Hello Fellow Geeks :D

I have a problem with my desktop with Vista Ultimate as OS

File: \Windows\system32\winload.exe

Status: 0xc000000e

Info: The selected entry could not be loaded because the application is missing or corrupt.

Therefore I cannot boot Windows vista anymore... but i can access the C from Ubuntu (fortunately I had it install before :P)

So how can I fix this problem without losing any data and using Ubuntu?
Please make it as simple as possible because I'm not a computer expert

Thanks in advance

This, but also I'm not sure if you're using Vista for a specific reason or not, so if possible, upgrade to 7 :P
um... yea.. dont wanna hijack the thread but 7 and xp both perform better at *all* games / softwares.
yh I know but it's because I have licensed games (and like a perfect idiot I lost the box with the codes) and I don't want to lose them ;)
And I can get back these codes by looking at the windows registry :D

That's why I want to repair windows WITHOUT having to format it (:

Well if I understood correctly, it seems like you don't want to upgrade because of a format but the thing is that from vista to 7 it doesn't need a format :) you get to keep all your files, registries and the such+ when you switch to 7 you get more HDD space :)

Stick the DVD into your DVD-ROM and boot from it. Then click on Next, Next Next... etc.

Note: You will most likely be notified that you already have an installation of Windows Vista on your PC, and they will ask you whether you want to upgrade or a separate installation. Make sure to choose the upgrade option.

This might be of help (I did not read it but it seems relevant)
Good luck!
I am really tempted to upgrade...
But my question is: Will my games still work?
I own Red Alert 3 original installed on the desktop.... will it still work on windows 7?
Because I bought it in 2009
Yea basically everything that works on vista works on 7... just wondering though, can't you access the registry from ubuntu? i mean if one can access the SAM files then... im gonna google bout it now :D
if you can find how to access the registry I would be very grateful (:
You can use ERD Commander for Vista to access the registry. Google it. Did you follow up my previous post?
i downloaded the file... now i just neeed to burn it (:
good news leblinux... It is working once again :D
Thanks a lot for your help (:
