Hi everyone, this is my 2nd tutorial that I post here, hope u like this one.
I guess the X360 have the same network settings as the PS3.
You need to know your Nat Type & fix it
Type 1 - Is good, all ports are Open - Best
Type 2 - Is good, not all ports are Open - Recommended
Type 3 - You can connect, & play, but alot of features are disabled - Minimum
Access Points, Routers, Modems ...
This is my Network Setup
Dlink Dir-300 wireless 4 Ethernet ports Router
Thomson Speed-touch 510v6 1port Modem
I had a Type 3 Nat for a while now, & I've been unable to connect to online MP Games, especially on consoles games that use matchmaking systems ie (Uncharted 2 & MW2) but Killzone 2 works good.
Yesterday I've changed the Dlink Router into an Access Point, & I was able to get a Nat 2 Type on PS3, yet when connecting to uncharted 2 I keep getting synchronizing error. due to the modem not forwarding the ports for the Uncharted 2 Game.
Uncharted 2 game uses the port 443 TCP for online connection, & since my router is an Access Point, there is no need to open ports on it or to enable DMZ & using DHCP is disabled.
so what you need to do is:
1 - Enable UPnP on both Console & Modem, (router is disabled since its an access point)
2 - Give a static IP to your console, preferably from the Network settings in the console & not from the modem.
3 - Make Sure that the Static IP you gave your console is different & not in the range of the DHCP of your modem.
4 - You should now test the connection, You should get a NAT 2 type. if not then follow on.
5 - Forword the ports needed for the PS3/X360 (or the game) on your modem, each modem/router have a different setup so check
www.portforward.com.com for your modem.
check for the ports needed for ur console
6 - now u should be able to cennect to the game that use match making system
7 - if not Disable UPnP on the Modem, but now u'll get Nat 3 as in my case, but will be connected to others & quickly.
big thanks to Kareem, as all of this wouldn't happen if I didnt try to help him & ending up fixing my problem.
PS: our internet sucks
