MrClass wrotewell still the size is unknown. I do have worked on a mysql database for a school website. the db was about 98 tables, with some tables having up to 5000+ records and 1 particular table with 11520 records (with 80+ attributes). the whole sql file measures to 1532KB, and 161KB in size when zipped. Dont know about other dbs, but i guess mysql can do a great job.
Are you sure about that?! If that's the case then how in the hell do databases grow in size to hit the TB's limit?! here's the model I'm working with:
http://tinypic.com/r/rbcpz7/7, might be slightly changed in case some business rules or requirements were modified but generally that's it. It is much simpler than the model you're talking about...
AymanFarhat wrote@Kassem, go for MySql man why tie yourself with the commercial stuff. I think sql server express is not meant for large databases and I think it has limitations at some point and thats the reason why SQL Developer and Enterprise would exist. Thats just a thought, not based on any information really.
I would really love to see MySql being used with ASP.net on a large project like yours. I did use it and it was nice but it was not really a testing for scalability nor performance between the two.
I will look into it. I need to make sure it wouldn't cause any issues with LINQ and with the Entity Framework. Then I'll consider using MySQL as a last resort... But for now, we decided not to go with that hosting company because we read a lot of bad reviews about their services...
