I just wanted to ask if I were the only one suffering from somewhat high pings to certain areas of europe.
I've been using the sodetel gaming package for around 3 years, and it's been great ever since; but since the beginning of this month the ping remained stable to certain areas of europe yet doubled in others.
ping difference between manchester and london:
Doubled in london yet they're both really close
Ping to sweden:
(apologies for the image spam, but I wanted to provide something that varifies what i'm talking about =p)
A 250ms isn't bad in itself, but in-game it jumps from 250 - 350 and lagspikes at times, which makes it very annoying to play.
The pings to france and germany are similar to manchester, hence why the WoW players are not complaining; which means the majority is happy, which in turn means the ISP won't admit there's a problem to begin with; but if you play a game that has a server located in ireland for example, you're stuck with a 250+ms. It seems as if since the beginning of the month something happened, but they've only bothered to optimize the path to germany and france for WoW players.
I've sent them traceroutes showing 300+ms pings to these servers but they keep telling me it's normal and nothing is wrong, while obviously something is.
Is anyone else suffering from this? And is there anyway I can clearly show them the problem exists? (calling for help from the networking experts =P). Thanks in advance for your replies
