what really confuses me about the iphone user interface is the big fuss in regards to having folders on the desktop. ok, lets rollback a bit and take a look. the first version supported only icons (excluding os features such as search when scrolling to the left). the second version brought folders. when i think of the pc world, that kind off takes us back to windos v1/2/3... in other words, really ancient user interfaces. you can not have gadgets of feeds on your desktop, lame/lousy, sucks big time. from the user interface layout and logic, we can compare the ios interface to that of windows 95 (simply because of the vibrant colors and folder features). win95 was a hit, an escape from windos v3. then again, if we look at the path of the windows os and macos/osx. phone user interface does not come close to either or! win95 was pimpedup by win98, win/me was horrible, m$ had the decency to kill it right at the start. win2000 was an evolution in stability. winxp became user/media friendly. win vista was horrific, win7 works! in the other hand macos, for its greater part remained about the same. it has been pimpped up with features and stability and works quiet well.
now if we take a look at ios3/4, damn that is really one of the lousiest user interfaces that there is out there! the only thing nice about it are the vibrant colors. as a user interface from which you would expect to get info, since a screen/terminal is intended to display informations and not eye candy icons, ios really does not serve much, barely half of what android/meego/symbian displays!
well, that was my 2c, feel in to pitch constructive opinions on the pro/cons of ios interface and feasability.
look at it from the following perspectives:
- business usage
- technical usage
- active social usage
- eye candy
- multipurpose usage
