how can i block users from changing a software options, like soundforge for example?
Joe
It depends on the software. Be more precise.

i said "SOUND FORGE" ain't that precise
hussam
Still a very generic question. googling says it's a proprietary piece of software so you'll need to ask the soundforge developers.
If soundforge doesn't have an option like that built in, then there's no legal way for an end user to hack it in.
Joe
You can always try defining access rights at the Operating System level. I'm guessing you run Windows, that would mean you should not give your users administration accounts. Then again there's no guarantee it will work. As hussam said, since its proprietary, the only way to know really is to ask the developers of the software.
You're expecting a generic answer that would work on every software. It doesn't work like that. If you gave us more information about your use cases:
- Who are the other user?
- Do they connect on the same computer or over LAN? With separate accounts?
- What options exactly do you want to restrict?
The more you give us information, the better the answer we'll give you. That's what I mean by "be more precise".

He wants gui lockdown but that isn't possible in a closed source application unless it has such an option built in or if the developers are willing to implement it in a future version.

i have clients who record sound but each one of them adjust preferences as he likes so each time someone wants to record he calls me to set up the preferences back as it was, ain't there anyway to block it in registry for example, i know all what you said, but i'm searching for someone who experienced similar issue, but thank you for your advices

hi Hass, i don't think there is a way to stop users from altering the settings, but what you can do i guess like most of these applications, check to see if there are any user profile preferences and save the original one so you can get back quickly to the default settings, just an idea
