If you are going to give him the PS3 controllers then let him start with MGS4 but the only prob is that he may take a nap during cut-scenes. :)
Note: He will go into deep sleep during the epilogue.

Not necessarily actually, I have seen some nice stuff shot in portrait mode (after all, video = moving image). As long as you don't switch between the two :)

The thing is, the only place where you can view a portrait-shot video without compromise, is on a portable screen (phone / tablet) or computer. But post it on youTube, or view it on a TV or such, and you'll end up with a lot of black on the sides and a shrunk down image in the middle.

Yeah, depends on the player. On vimeo, for example, you can upload portrait movies and you will not have any black lines or such.
