but no car and i live near zahle
In the meeting, I will bring up the topic of being inclusive of the people who can't make it to meetings, have few time and such ... we will probably decide on creating some online platform or maybe have some irc channel with always people on it.

so 100% you will be involved online if you want to. We are geeks after all and we need to have online way of meeting/deciding specially as the number of ppl grows larger.

will leave it to the bunch to decide and see what we can do :)
mir Interesting idea; will you update us with the results of the first meeting?

Can't they just join us on a video call?
Ah wait! no they can't this is why we are having this meeting! :P
Actually, I just realized that Sunday the 16th was an option so I modified my RSVP. :)
@mir: After what happened, is there going to be any change?

Not having a gover. is something we got used to. The decision is not in the hand of the minister no matter who he is, it is in the hands of the people and this is what we are set to proof :) So I do not think anything has changed.
I believe a real life meeting defeats the purpose of having an online forum to begin with. We should be successful enough to organize it all, specify what our action plan is, and then commence it (be it decided there should be media transmitted protest or not) all using this board.
Let's have a brainstorm here, sanitize our ideas, each shake their contacts and close circles, check what is the scope of our "retaliation" (just internet quality or should it entail electricity, fuel, so on...)
I totally hate the fact that I'd have to pay up close to $30 in transportation to what I could do for free. I hope we can get to the bottom of this particular idea logically and fast so that we can move back to the main issue.

Any decision that requires financial support will require the approval of the majority of the ministers, at the moment, these ministers are only finalizing affairs, they will not be dealing with anything new. You cannot act at the moment, all you can do is meet up and discuss possibilities.
If you think of it correctly, we might actually be heading for change :)

Let's not go there Jad.

change my ass, this country blows.
its a cycle, and we're part of it sadly.
we will see :)
@J4D, MegaCool: Of all the topics on the forum, this one you're really not allowed to hijack. No politics. No defeatism. No "change is coming". No, no no!

The only thing that can be discussed in this thread is the meeting, the hours, the location, the content, the attendance, etc ...
Im in if you will have an irc channel.
Do politicians care if we vote for them later on anymore or they don't at all?
Do we have alternative new faces to look at regarding these issues?
Does public awareness about the real problems pose a real threat to politician idleness or is it really all a sealed theater play. I really have no idea about these things, as I have always kept my distance from the confusion that is politics. I am used to other more concrete and defined problems.
Can we perhaps launch a facebook campaign that's useful? Can we show how politician actions will affect their endurance in power?

I am going to try to attend to the subject that is internet and everything related to its politics through this thread.

Can we abuse some channel for broadcasting this information about what's really in fact happening, who's to blame, who were are and so on? Which would be our best platform to spread out.

Am just thinking out loud what I have to add to this conversation. It might be just structural, naive, or dismal in respect to what you have in mind, but to me that's it so far. Enlighten thy brother.

Please forgive the above sloppy text, I am not in a state to write for communication at the moment.
This is exactly what we are going to discuss in the meeting. Online/IRC channels can be a way.
The important thing is that we can all share our ideas. We already have a lot of things set up and figured out. But many other things are still missing, we need to discuss all of those things and where are we heading and how we will get there.

I think IRC will be a total mess, as when you login you cannot see all the ideas above.
An organized + highly moderated forum topic can be initiated, for people who cannot attend the meeting yet have input that is important.
