Im using my 1TB Caviar Black WD HDD as an external hard drive on my new laptop by using the Transcend HDD Enclosure through the esata port, my question is, do i have to Safely Remove the HDD each time i want to turn the Enclosure off ? Or just switch the button to 0 on the enclosure ? If i did that, wouldnt it harm the HDD inside ( if ofc im copying files and something happens by mistakes or anything ... )
The problem is that it doesnt show as an external device so i cant safely remove it the way we do so for some kind of usb device.
Any suggestions ?

As long as you dont have files being transfered from it. or programs running off it. their should not be a problem. The worst thing that might happen is damaging a sector. Which should not really be a big deal.

well if no services are using the hard drive, its ok to unplug it. make sure that disk defragmenter applications or antiviruses do not scan the hard drive. You might sometime remove the hdd without noticing that it is being used by somekind of service. best option is turning off the machine, then unplug the hdd. but i guess that's not practical.
