so we have a topic for what are you listening for.. so why not reading too..

i'll start:

i have reading several articles/papers about functional programming:
programming in haskell -- mostly

in literature the arabic version of:
paulo coelho - 11 minutes

BashLogic

just got my hands on the following books:
- the egyptian
- business continuity management
- japanese the manga way
- mastering regular expressions

cause of work im reading about:
- vmware virtual infrastructure, (going to get my vcp soon)
- RSA solutions
- information security

dunno when im going to have the time for all of them but i guess at some point

"Python for Unix and Linux system administration." by Noah Gift and Jeremy M. Jones, O'Reilly - Awesome book if you are interested in scripting but look for something a little more than bash or ksh.

"Advanced Linux programming." by Mark Mitchell, Jeffrey Oldham and Alex Samuel, New Riders - C and Unix are tightly linked, that book shows me why.

I am stuck with common shells, at most that i could consider is perl. anyhow, python logic goes beyond my capability to learn it :)

Python for Unix and Linux system administration. That's a very nice book, read it.

Currently i'm finishing C++ with "Absolute C++" - Walter Savitch.

Got 4 more books to finish, i hope i have time to read them all in the upcoming months:
Hacking - The Art of Exploitation by John Erickson
Apress Expert Shell Scripting by Ron Peters
Detecting Malice by Robert Hansen
Syngress - Open Source Fuzzing Tools by lots of authors cba to name them lol.

Reading The Andromeda Strain by Michael Crichton. I havent slept and my eyes are sore but i just can't stop ! It's one hell of a bio/science fiction novel, and I think especially @Mesa would be really interested in it.

Aldous Huxley - Brave New World. [wiki]

Written in 1931 (...) the novel anticipates developments in reproductive technology and sleep-learning that combine to change society. The future society is an embodiment of the ideals that form the basis of futurism.
(...) The Modern Library ranked Brave New World fifth on its list of the 100 best English-language novels of the 20th century.

I'm half way through it. I highly recommend it.

- Biomedical Engineering Handbook (Editor: Joseph Bronzino, 2nd ed.)
- Lange Anesthesiology (Bentollenaar website)
- Hello World: Computer Programming for Kids and Other Beginners (I want to teach Python programming to a couple of kids, so I've been reading it and I must admit I like the way they present the subject; authors: Warren and Carter Sande)
- 30 Arduino Projects for the Evil Genius (by Simon Monk; I've read also 123 PIC Microcontroller Experiments for the Evil Genius, highly recommended for beginners in hardware programming)

Literature:

Just finished The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest by Steig Larson, a part of the triology The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and The Girl Who Played with Fire. Aside from all the womanizing and sexual explorations (I kept skipping pages), the series is one of the best coming to thriller/mystery. Better yet, it talks about a hacker called Lisbeth and her twisted life. I love the way the author keeps you anticipated till the last page (unfortunately like many great series, the ending sucks big time). The second book led me to Pierre de Fermat and his last theorem which I tried proving and couldn't do it except with conics (namely ellipses).

Currently reading The Appeal by John Grisham, a favorite author of mine.

@eurybaric: Thanks for the recommendation, will try to read it soon. PS: Michael Crichton is one of the greatest scientific authors, try reading Airframe.

Currently reading: Matter by Iain M. Banks. Advanced alien superculture breaking the Prime Directive always makes me smile.
