The other day, my wife comes home with an LG Netbook and asked me to setup the internet for her. I pick up this Netbook and found it rather cool. It comes with Windows 7 Starter and whatnot and just "does the job". The very next morning while i was having my coffee i figured I'd check my mail using this Netbook.
What happened was, instead of pressing the "Power button" I pressed a button that had the label "S-On". Instantly the netbook powered on and not 10 seconds afterwards i was logged in to an operating system that had a linuxy feel to it.
Apparently what was installed is the
Splashtop OS, previously known as DeviceVM i believe. I figured i'd install it on my other laptop for a quick test and here's what i witnessed:
P.S.: All through windows.
1- Downloaded Installer : 10mb
2- Installer downloaded the OS : 220mb
3- Installer installed the OS
4- Reboot, get an OS choice, select Spashtop
5- Not 10 seconds after that, the browser was already open ready to take action.
It's free and best of all, Open Source.
Does anyone have any experience with Splashtop OS?
