Ok We all Know that WoW has been on the MMO throne for quite some time now , and does not seem to be willing to give up anytime soon , BUT with the upcoming MMOs ( especially in the Year 2011 ) There seems to be 3 Types of MMOs :
1- The Usual MMOs : We have RIFT , SW:TOR & GW2 , sorry if i missed any but those are just the biggest AAA games coming out this year . Now by usual i mean those who follow the same MMORPG pattern , AKA the EQ/WoW'esque Pattern .
2-The RTS MMOs : Basically a Massive lobbygame RTS , there is Kingdom under Fire 2 , and there's End of Nations .
3- Here's the interesting part ... basically the one i wanted to ask about , the MMOARPG : Action RPGs seem to be calling themselves the Next-Gen MMOs , Titles in F2P like Vindictus and Divine Souls and continent of the ninth , and Of course the AAA title TERA .
First of all , Please i'm not trying to say " Next-Gen MMOs are gonna kill WoW " but what i'm asking is , do you think WoW will be Affected not as a game , but for Blizzard , since it has already been announced that their next mmo ( Project "TITAN" ) will be an MMOFPS and there were rumours of the bungie team being in on it or something .
Is There anyone on these forums who's heard of Any of these Next-Gen MMOs or any other like this ? i mean i know They're Still Fresh and don t have that much Rep yet but just outta curiosity

Was thinking abt getting that myself , but i ve Read ( and i'm emphasizing on the Fact i just Read about it , and not actually tried it ) that it's much more convenient to play it on a PS3 then a PC , but tbh i don't understand how that statement is even plausible since You can get a joystick for a PC and voila !
but on the Topic DCUO is one of those mmos pushing the Genre Forward towards Action Elements

yeah i stopped caring about what runs better where, but i am gonna get it on ps3 either ways cause i like the psn community better and all my friends will be playing it there. if you ever get it on ps3 add me.
and anyways i've been reading about it and watching some vids and it's looking amazing.

1. I hate FPS. Couldn't care less abt MMOFPS or how they work
2. MMOs on PS3, From my point of view, won't last ... How long will ps3, itself, last ?
3. World of Warcraft has been out there since 2003. Graphics did improve, and the game did change thanks to patches. Now anyone with a pc dating from, let's say 2005, can still play WoW. In the upcoming years, there will be a ps4, or whatever they would call it. So you''re playing, let's say Final Fantasy Online, A newer version will come up that only works on PS4, so you have to buy one, and start all over again. Very few are with server reset in WoW... What do you think ?
4. How can an MMO like wow with that much spells, varieties, and keys, be played on PS3????? how abt strategy? you get a keyboard? isn't that just the same ? :/

1- Well Again i can't Emphasize more on the Fact it's FPS + Action + RPG elements , there's a reason for the Description which is "Next-Gen" ( imagine Prince of persia + WoW ) That's TERA
2- i didn;t Mention anything abt PS3 but Some MMOs are just releasing Cross-platforms to attract console audience
3-No it was Released End of 2004 , And the fact is Blizzard have always said " we make our games look this way and not too demanding so we can lower the System requirements " which you can clearely see in their games.
4- Again i'm not asking about what you're using to play an MMO i'm talking about the MMO itself , Basically Removing Auto Targetting and introducing Action Elements .
DCUO is an example YES , it's one of those MMOs introducing new elements , Fallen Earth for example tried it but it's an Indie Company so they didn't get much publicity and tbh the game isn't really Full of Fun or Content . Hellgate London is another Example of Failure . But DCUO is Successful at least according to the reviews and Comments , Beta Responses for TERA are also very Positive , Devs are moving Forward to break the pattern .I'm Sure that you can name " OFF THE TOP OF YOUR HEAD" at least 50 MMOs that were released After WoW and are exact Clones or very Close , which is why they failed , they all had poor Execution , a worn out WoW player Does NOT want to play a WoW clone or else why would he leave WoW and start all over again ? Unless it's WoW 2 :P . But now they're trying to introduce things that WoW or any other MMO for that matter do not Have . Innovation !

Guys first of all in Lebanon with the current increasingly deteriorating internet situation we cant dream about playing some current generation MMOs like DCUO, because first the patches are going to be huge in size, also the latency is awful. I dont want to buy a $60-$70 game to have such bad experience; add to that the NAT types restrictions implemented by the ISPs.
Imagine yourself playing MAG 256 players on the same battlefield i expect the latency to be at least 1sec. The USA and European players already complain about how chaotic the battlefield is what about us it will be like warping, dying, thats it.
As for the future well Fiber To The Home is going to make our home internet blazing fast with extremely low latencies thats why i expect a lot of action based MMORPGs that consume a lot of bandwidth. I am not talking about Lebanon of course.

@Josenad, i totally disagree with you, why would mmos not last on the ps3, well they are just starting with DCUonline, but this game is published by Sony Online Entertainment, so it was made to be played on the playstation, and it's not like you describe it, there won't be a million spells with a thousand key-bindings to need a keyboard, it perfectly fits the ps3 controller so i don't think you argument is in place.
btw, today i am playing DCUonline, i have downloaded the trial on ps3, so i'll share my experience about it today regarding gameplay and the online part since Kareem reminds us of the awful internet that we have.
