  • Ogero's changing IP and WoW Europe ?

Is anyone experiencing difficulties playing WoW Europe with Ogero as an ISP ?
The reason I am asking is because WoW Europe bans your account when your IP changes (to protect you from being hacked and accessed by another person with another IP).
And I know that Ogero do NOT assign a fixed IP to people and their IP changes several times per day.
Really? I've never experienced that. I use Ogero and I play WoW Europe. Either my IP isn't changing or WoW isn't recognizing that it's changing. I use a router with a fixed IP, but I connect wired from the modem straight to my PC, so the router and its IP have no effect.
Hey Tako,

How many times do you get disconnected from DSL ? I mean how many times the modem's last led goes off for 30 secs and you are thrown out of the game ? It's happening every single day with Sodetel. I am hesitant to heal or tank anymore when I don't know when my DSL will go off for 30 seconds. I am not even enjoying the game anymore.

Also their ping just sucks big time after 11:00pm (which is when I am usually trying to raid with the guild and I cannot do that anymore).

Seems like these problems are just related to you. The 4th light goes off 2, 3 times a week if at all. Nothing to worry about. And my ping is always around 150-200. I'm a healer, so I need a good connection and so far Ogero does not disappoint.

as in another post i said that 2 of my friends experienced that when they logged to their accounts on different ip adresses , they don't litteraly ban your account , they just lock it so noone can access it anymore except the real owner , so they send you an email to your WoW account registered email , just follow a couple of steps that don't take more than 2 minutes , and you can relog to your account and play normally like nothing has ever happened.

I think he knows that. What he's worried about his when his ISP changes his IP while he's in a raid or dungeon.
ohh, i remember i read somewhere i guess it's in the EULA or something like that they kinda tolerate some kind of IP throttle used by ISPs i don't really recall , i think that this is the case..
DG, are u also facing problems after 11;00PM with latency and download rate with ogero? i thought that happens only with other companies like IDM etc... i cant play after 11;00 pm at all :<
There's something very weird with my connection then. I have around 300-400ms in the day and around 150-200ms in the night until about 7 in the morning.

Yes I have a "Gaming" plan with Sodetel and my brother has a normal 256K plan with Ogero and we are both facing high latency after 11:00 pm.

I said it before and I will say it again. If you are thinking about switching to Sodetel because you are facing problems with your current ISP... don't even bother. Their "Gaming" plan USED to be good. 2 months ago it started to deteriorate to a point where I cannot raid or even think about healing/tanking in WoW as I get disconnected several times per day.

Looks like the entire country is plunged in bandwidth shortage at the time being due to many people being at home on vacation and staying up late (no school, university or work the next day).
Add to this the fact that many people living/working abroad usually visit Lebanon for 2 - 3 weeks during this period of the year (and those people also do not work since they are here on vacation).
You make the maths...

do you only play on your computer or you play on ps3 or xbox and its still not working...if not than the problem is in your computer..your firewall is taking alot of download or somthings wrong with your computer..
Addict wrotedo you only play on your computer or you play on ps3 or xbox and its still not working...if not than the problem is in your computer..your firewall is taking alot of download or somthings wrong with your computer..
I play on my computer. And, I'm sorry, but I do not quite understand what you mean by "your firewall is taking alot of download" ?
If you mean I have something like IDS or some kind of packet inspection turned on and it's slowing my connection... then I can assure you I have nothing of the kind.

As soon as 11:00pm hits (unlimited downloads allowed) Sodetel's connection goes down the drain.
Tonight it even started at 8:00pm (double speed allowed).

Whether all ISPs (including Ogero) are currently being affected by this remains to be seen. We will need more input from various people subscribed with several ISPs.
Well if this helps, I used to be on a 256 "internet" connection ( Shameful to call such mockeries DSL ) with Terranet. I used to play WoW europe - Wildhammer (based in the uk) and was main tank to a T5 guild in TBC. I used to have great latency somewhat around 200. But after 11 pm, it used to always, and i mean ALWAYS Lag, ive even tested it a minute before 11pm, a minute after... ill post the results. Anyway, I dont know how why you havent experienced this before, but i think EVERYONE (except Ogero) will lag after 11 due to free download period which is excessively used. I mean who doesn't start download at 11 and leave his pc on till the next day ? I really doubt that with a connection other than ogero, you will experience regular latency. My latency used to shoot from 200 ms to 1500 ms in a matter of seconds ... Thats for Sodetel.

As for Ogero, someone once told me that Ogero only offers fixed Ips which explains why their prices are a bit higher than the other ISPs, but I dont know whether thats true or not. My cousin plays on Wildhammer also and he's on Ogero, and he's been telling me that he has been experiencing big time lag this last week, I say give it another week, if things dont change call them! Dont lose hope in lebanon :p Last week my cousin came over, and logged in on my 1mpbs TERRANET cnx, his latency was around 1000 ms ... the second day i phoned them, they resolved the issue, whatever it was in around 8 hours, they even called me back! and latency went down to 200 even 150ms sometimes ... Hope the same happens with you :)

Just to clear things out, in case anyone asks in the future. Your IP address might change whenever you connect to the internet, but your domain remains the same. Moreover, I know many people who play in Net Cafes, if that was true they would have had their accounts blocked long time ago. I dont believe any ISP offers fixed IP in their default package, I for one dont have one and never had a problem with a blocked account.

As for your question about the green led turning off for 30 sec, it happens to me sometimes randomly, but I know my problem and not sure if it's related to what you have. My problem is the telephone lines. As you know ADSL runs on telephone lines, so if the telephone box of the building isnt set well, or facing distortions, your modem might disconnect.

As for suddenly having high latencies, always check if your window isnt downloading anything in the background, or for that matters any of your installed programs updating, which might include:
~ Anti Virus / Anti-Spyware
~ Java
~ Adobe Acrobat
~ Windows Updates
~ Unfinished WoW Patch
i have been facing the same issue since i have been playing on my friends account... first time i logged, it directly locked it, then again.... like 3 - 4 times. he sent them an email, they still havent replied, but so far, no problems aroused again, i can play without the account being locked.... give it some tries ? :P
as for the ISP/ping probs... guyz, i have been with Ogero for some while now, never had more then 200ms... raid/ogrimar the same... halla2 at first it was crappy, i called and ta3mayton bahdale, and ask for a low latency ip, and from there on, i was never deceived... the only down thing bout ogero is no double-speed/unlimited at nights, and its why i think their service is still gd ^.^
anyway, hope it was helpful
