  • Lebanese Govt. – FUCK YOU! – Lebanese Internet users take another blow

you guys have forgotten something else instead of empty talks what if we may support hacking our modems that will get us what we want, but surely you'll get 512 kbps and double speed at night and nice latency at least thats whats supposed to be till now right ?

belal wroteThere are much more important things in this country than internet. 'According to a 2008 report by the United Nations Development Program, 28 percent of Lebanon’s population can be considered as poor, and 8 percent as extremely poor'; Some people can't even buy bread to feed their kids;
Seriously? Please do not tell me there are more important things than the internet, we do know that. But these that you're talking about are supposed to be your natural rights. And in the 21st century, broadband internet should be one of those. Moreover, if someone cannot buy bread to feed his children, 1. Why in the hell did he screw up his wife and got her pregnant? 2. (assuming he's not crippled) Why in the hell doesn't he move his ass and work to provide his family? It's not my fault that some people are dumb and/or lazy. There's no excuse (other than being physically incapable) for not working and making at least $500 per month. If they look hard enough for jobs, they'll find some eventually. But waiting for work to come your way won't do you any good! Stop feeling sorry for poor people. Be harsh to them, maybe that will wake them up and give them an incentive to work harder and do better with their lives.
Tako_400 wroteBasically what I was going to say. The government's fighting to keep this country from the brink of civil war, and you think it's about to get worried about our internet connections? Sorry, people. You'll have to deal with what we have for the next few years.
So when was the last time when our stupid country wasn't on the brink of civil war? When was our country not subject to Israeli war threats? We're used to all of this shit now. Our safety is never guaranteed, there are always some threats. That shouldn't stop us from thinking of solutions to our other problems. Security is one problem, but we still have a fucked up economy, and a population that deserve to rot in hell for religious discrimination and sectarianism. Let's face it, we should either be ashamed for being Lebanese (I know we should), or try to find solutions that might eventually give us a country we could be proud of.
anyone interesting in doing a real life meeting where we can get together, discuss, agree, argue ?
( i know the timing is bit ugly during the holiday --- but well ... )

If you are in for a meeting - i suggest that samer opens an official doodle - send the link to members by email - the ppl intrested in working on this get to meet and see where to take things

Sounds like a great idea...
Also, Rahmu will definitely Attend this meeting...

Just because we've lived in a pile of shit for too long doesn't mean we should make that pile of shit the norm. It's still a pile of shit. Same thing with the situation. Just because Lebanon has been on the brink of civil war for so long doesn't mean we should ignore it and accept it as a general state of the country. When a second civil war actually starts, you'll regret your words. The lives and safety of the Lebanese population are much more important to me than internet speed, World of Warcraft or no World of Warcraft. The problems with Lebanon aren't stopping us from doing things. Truth is, Lebanon has many problems. It's just that this is more important and deserves more attention and importance.
meeting is nice.
For people saying there more things to care for, you are right.
But here is the situation in my personal opinion of course:
- Without a proper economy you will not get any service.
- To get a proper economy you need outside investments, large companies, ...
- No one is willing to invest because we are lacking any kind of "Internet"
- Fixing the internet will improve the economy (and maybe we will get 24/7 electricity)
- Do not forget that everything is connected.
- We do not want to discuss politics or war or refugees, we just want internet to work/use.

If you do not want to support the idea, you are free, just turn off your computer, turn off your router, your modem and never turn them on again, this is exactly what your saying.
belal wroteThere are much more important things in this country than internet. 'According to a 2008 report by the United Nations Development Program, 28 percent of Lebanon’s population can be considered as poor, and 8 percent as extremely poor'; Some people can't even buy bread to feed their kids; unemployment is rising; illiteracy, corruption, each while those twat politicians remind us that a civil war may break up; sectarianism and so on...
If you want a noticeable and meaningful protest, consider those much more important issues.

my two cents.
I think that protesting about general subjects will get you nowhere because there is no magic solutions for this stuff.

Imagine if the politicians used the money the spent in protests to build factories and create job opportunities...

But if you protest about something specific and somewhat feasible like this one , you might and i repeat you might make a difference and create general awareness.

BTW faster internet means more IT companies, means more jobs, means more money flowing, less people under line of poverty.
anyone heard the news about jebran bassil investigation against another minister i dont really know whats going on but this guy should be in the prison if he really requested that .
Well i'll go with the DDOS ! i think exploiting them will be a bit hard, its related to the gov in the end, but I'll give it a try.

But still, I'm willing to kill anyone if this will add Lebanon to the list. lol
Georges Raad wroteFew DDOS attacks on the important governmental websites, and showing at each website's homepage a message related to our demands will definitely get more attention than all other ways you're suggesting.
This way, Media can discuss that, in a non-political way, since there's no way to relate this to a politician or political party...
I am not sure you fully understand what a DDOS attack lets you do. It does not give you access to their hosting.

DUDE WHAT DOES THAT HAVE TO DO WITH THIS TOPIC?
WHAT'S WRONG WITH WHAT HE DID? HE CAN REQUEST ANYTHING IF HE SUSPECTS ANYTHING.
Stop your political posts, because they flame ministers for bullshit reasons, and most of them are off topic.
I've had enough.

On Topic:

The DDOS attack won't do much because it just lags the website, it doesn't actually give you access to hosting (as I've heard). Besides, the websites barely get any visitors.
nuclearcat wroteSorry for deep politics, but this is my ideas:

They dont care if u even live near parliament. They wont see u over their tinted shielded jeeps.
They dont care if u protest - u are 0.0001% of citizens.
They dont care if u even make chaos on streets - they will have good reason to kick u to jail.

The only power you have - improve awareness of their electorate.
Read - teach your fellow lebanese to not reelect crooks who screwed their job. Teach people to elect persons by their actions and especially what they did, not color or religion.

But this thing fail, need more action. Gebran Bassil lost his battle and he is minister, cause he is relative of Aoun. Read: dump all Aoun party, if they are so careless about listening to people that elect them.
Just a question how Gebran Bassil lost his battle? who said so? and yes he is minister because he deserve it, in my opinion not only Telecoms minister failed, all this country keep failing and failing because we never elect the people who will work to our country we elect just because ( this is from our religion or our political side so lets put the paper for him ) this problem start from " University Election " and keep going in Real Life so blame us and our parent and even blame our kids it is our mistake none else we are just a card other countries playing with us, you people want to do a protest trust me as nuclear said none will even care no one from political care about internet why they are old enough to care about " HAYFA " and her body more then what Teen age people needs i never mean that internet only for Teen age am old enough and i love to have fast stable internet i have 1MB/s OGERO but yes i pay 250$ per month why because 5GB is nothing all Lebanon now the only thing they talk about is " Harriri " and " Ma7kame dowaleye " they forget everything else because we want the truth... i think we should protest not only against telecoms minister we should protest against all this government and i hope some day our children use there mind before they put that paper in that box " Elect "
Note: Sorry if my English is bad i was typing fast and hope all you got my true point from this post thanks.

Ye lol, you can't leave a message on each website's page.
You should do a little reading on DDOS.

Completely agree with your Off Topic, but on your On Topic: well DDOS can make the website unavailable, may crash the server and if not so many zombies, shells or what ever name you want, are available than the DDOS will lag the website.

He's talking about the telecom minister. Last time I checked he's Charbel Nahhas. What does Jebran Bassil accusing/whatever someone has to do with the topic? Nothing.
You're just giving out your political opinions which we don't give a DAMN sh*t about. Don't take it personally, but randomly saying stuff pisses me off.
