PC Freeze, Help!

My brother have a Quad Core CPU, 2 x 2 GB Ram, and a 4670 HD Graphic Card. He bought the pc about 2 years ago. The pc used to run the games with ease but now, it faces problems like these:

1- When playing COD4, Counter-Strike: Source, NFS Shift and many other games(L4D2, Splinter Cell Conviction...) the pc just freezes (not the game) after about 10-20 min of gameplay.

2- When running COD BlackOps, the pc freezes in the first 30 sec in the intro title (TreyArch, Activision intro)

I tried stressing the CPU (prime95) and it got about 72 C without freezing and the GPU by FurMark and it got about 71 C without freezing. I thought it was a temperature problem but after performing the test I got lost. (Formatting the PC didn't solve the problem)

P.S: He also face the blue screen of death :P sometimes.

Any idea about the cause of the problem? Any way to solve it? Thanks in Advance

try windows dbg to find out the blue screen problem...im guessing hdd problem..>!!!

I am experiencing freezes but sometimes, my main prob is a really bad HDD with bad sectors and fragmented data. But to help i have switched off the resident shield feature of AVG Internet Security on some files and folders that i use and suddenly make my pc freeze and so far it solved my prob 80%.

i used to have the same problem. what os are you running? windows 7?
my issue was realted to corrupted graphic card drivers.
try disabling system reboots on blue screen and check the error it gives you.
sometimes it might also be the memory without any kind of error checking we can try to guess it all day.

Thanks for your help but the problem is solved! I changed the HDD but the problem continued, then I changed the graphic card and It worked, but it was an old one so I tried switching the slot in which the previous graphic card was placed in and it finally worked!

i used to experience those freezes , it turned out to be HDD problem , changed the HDD and everything worked smooth , and about the blue screen of death , it's usually RAM problem as far from my experience i had to change my RAM and the blue screen was gone..
