Smartphones OS comparison

I am not sure how the other thread turned out top be ios vs android.
But i think a proper thread for OSes should be opened here.

I was not talking about game/apps performance. I was talking about UI rendering.

For example, if you build an iOS app using Interface Builder, the UI component uses openGL and GPU to be rendered.
UI Apps on Android Run using the CPU.

the UI of the andoid OS itself uses the CPU to be rendered because the Adnroid OS was made to support many devices, it would take a lot of time to target each GPU of each device. on iOS, apple manufactures the OS and the Device so it is easier.

In the end, it is really a matter of choice, they all do the same and now have the same apps more or less.
I have a 3GS I do not think I need to upgrade to iphone4 as the advantages vs the price are not that good.

My wife has a samsung wave that uses Bada OS, I find it very user friendly and smooth, its browser sucks.

I tried the HTC Desire running the Android Froyo 2.2 and I liked the flash player 10.1 support as it opens any type of site.

In the end, all these OSes give the developers the possibility to write OpenGL 1.2 or 1.3 so they have shader support which makes them a bit the same. Performace depend on the phone itself, you cannot compare a Galaxy S with 1Ghz CPU to am iphone3GS with 600MHz CPU. You can compare it to an iphone4, and they perform a bit the same from my point of view.

Just check Project Sword for iPhone 4, and see what iPhone 4 gaming looks like at it's full potential. Android doesn't even come close, but I am hearing they will be able to get a taste of Unreal Engine.

I am keeping an eye on Sony Ericsson's Xperia X10, after the OS update to Android version 2.1 "Eclair" it was was improved drastically. Any one used this phone plz give feedback because it is said that it has some lags.

iOS and Android are currently the 2 best smartphone OSes. Both have their strengths and weaknesses. I have both an iphone and a HTC Desire and they are both VERY good!
I am also hearing good things about Windows Phone 7, hope i can get a phone soon to test it :)

Windows Phone 7 is actually pretty good, and is getting a MASSIVE update in January, which will bring a whole lot of features.

Do you have any idea of whether this massive update will bring copy/paste capability and third part multitasking?

The rumored PlayStation phone will use Android OS, maybe version 3.0 (aka Gingerbread). Do you think it will be better?

Maybe, but Google will release what is called as Nexus S, which /might/ have a dual core CPU. The PS phone should be good, and yes it should run Gingerbread (could be 2.3 and not 3.0). I think the rumors say it will be announced in the first weeks of December.

Nothing official from Sony or Ericsson yet. Though some sites have posted some leaks of financial reports but nothing concrete yet.
