  • 24 hours to decide on Alienware Notebook !

Hey guys!
I'm in a little bit of a pickle, I have around 24 hours even less to decide whether i want to buy an " Alianware M15x " or not with the following specs :

Intel® Core™ i7 740QM Quad Core Processor, 1.73GHz (2.93GHz Turbo Mode, 6M Cache
8GB Dual Channel Memory (2x 4GB DDR3)
15.6-inch WideFHD 1920x1080 (1080p) WLED
1.5GB GDDR5 65W NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 460M

First of all what do you guys think ?
The nvidia GPU was added 2 days ago so i think the system is pretty fresh, even though its been on the market for around a year. My only concern is the CPU, but i cant do any better than that regarding my budget and I believe this configuration is better than any of the HP's pavillion crappy systems (even though they arent for gaming)!

HERES MY BIGGEST CONCERN:
Warranty whether it may be international or not, is not available in Lebanon, my only fear is that something terrible happens, how will i get the laptop fixed ? Do you guys think that it might be fixable in lebanon since it is a DELL notebook and not anything " too weird " ? Does anyone know someone or someplace capable of help in case something goes wrong ? Would places like Khoury Home or Aabed Tahhan help out ?

WARRANTY is my ONLY concern! If you guys think the lack of support and or warranty is not such a big deal, i will hit the " Add to Cart " button asap! Give me your opinions please im desperate for them :)
stay away from alienware ... overpriced and aren't that reliable.
From what i read it seems you already chose AlienWare as your Notebook but the warranty relies on you and how you use it like if it is going to be exposed to dangers: kids, coffee...etc.
No kids, no coffee, im very neat regarding these issues. My fear is out of the box problems! and trust me ive had them ... i bought a GPU two years ago from norway, was the best at the time ( 9800GTX+ ) and it blue screened me the minute i plugged it in! Had to send it all the way back to get a new one ... well this here is a notebook! costs too much to be touring it around the world!

And why stay away from alienware ? I dont know what people find horrible in their customer service, but then again, what kind of costumer service do we recieve in lebanon from Hp and Toshiba ? Almost none!
I went to abed tahhan the other day asking about Lenovo's number in Lebanon, they reffered me to three different people until i ended up at some secretary in the basement who has never even heard of lenovo, which she called " Lenava " ....
As for reliable, ive purchased three hp's, not ONE has lasted more than two years, either the screen is damaged, or the motherboard, things that arent related to the user ... So hp is out of the question .... Asus's designs are, well ... gay. Leaves me between Toshiba and Lenovo. Ive had my share of bad experiences with Toshiba Qosmio, my cousin had to take it THREE TIMES to Toshiba KSA each time with a problem worse than the other. So it was really between Lenovo and Alienware ... what would you have chosen for hardcore specs ? ;)
DO NOT PRESS THAT BUTTON
I had to make the same choice 4 months ago, I had the cash but my only concern was the Warranty.
I've seen plenty of alienware laptops (and they outperform other laptops (but not all) - I assume you're a hardcore gamer), but they're NOT that much reliable.

I finally bought a Sony Vaio VPCF1190x. You can customize these laptops to fit your needs. Find more details about these F Series laptops on Sony Style Website.

This is a Vaio, but still it's an amazing gaming laptop...
ehh, just a simple thought why not just buy a gaming desktop and a cheap laptop instead? it will cost you less with the same specs...
I personally suggest that you try it by yourself, if you can afford it.
well if i could afford losing that much cash ... i wouldnt be here asking in the first place :p
No you may not loose because when my friends ask me about the same thing i tell them just try your luck especially in Lebanon.
20 days later
I know I am late to answer, but maybe my answer will help future Lebanese that want to buy alienware stuff.
I emailed the Dell dealer in Lebanon once, because i wanted to get an alienware laptop. I had the same concern you have.
A sales person called me back and told me that I can get the laptop and they will cover it with the original warranty. BUT they will have to check it and then send the defective part to the US and then wait for a replacement (she gave me the example of a defective HDD). She also offered another option, I could pay a small fee and transfer the warranty to Lebanon and in this case they would replace the HDD in the same day.
do they sell alienware in lebanon? And if in case i want to buy it from abroad how do they ship it for me ?
dan961, do a quick search, it had been discussed before.
