Hi all,
my problem is the following:
i am writing a GUI chat program in VB.NET based on client-server, so the client is a GUI one, and the server is a console one (which is a multi-threaded server).
as you know i can't make the server running on my laptop for 24/7, so my question is : is there any way to run this server ( *.exe) on a free webhosting, or any other option.
i heard that i can do this through CGI, what about this?
note: the server is used to listen on port 6789
i'm waitin you geeks...

You can do that by getting a VPS account. Prices are around $20/month, sometimes cheaper. VPS is for Virtual Private Server (make sure you get a Windows VPS, not Linux). It gives you full access to the server, and you can do whatever you want, as long as it's within acceptable use policies of the provider.

Once you get your VPS (just like rolf said), you then transfer the exe to your server by FTP (or whatever you like) and simply run it. It should work. Hopefully.
