I'm guessing you have already heard about the newest Nokia N8. I'm planning on getting it, but every time i go to my local Nokia dealer, he says it has not arrived yet. Now i told him that some stores are already selling in Beirut, but he told me those are illegal imports and without a company warranty. Is this true? Do you know anyone who bought it? with/without a warranty?

I too am interested in this, keep searching in Saida but all I hear is "Ba3da ma nasilit" :/
Does anyone know of any place they are selling it, regardless of the warranty, and if so, any estimation on the price perhaps?
bskaram
Well, the official price is $550....but i guess you can get it for less if without a warranty!

Official? like Lebanese official or international official? because as I know, it's price on the European Nokia websites range from $630-$690, and considering the taxes they take in Leb, it is likely to be more
bskaram
No, I mean Lebanese official! $550, Nokia Lebanon confirmed it! I was surprised too, its cheaper than the European prices!

the distribution of the n8 began about 2 weeks ago or so, so it has not reached all stores.
on top of that there have been fake/clones in the market! the chinese have even copied and released
models that Nokia has canceled! I heard rummors that there is a new verification system on the way.
this would give the operators the chance to disconnect and render the clone/fake phones useless!

I already got one, and beside the camera's resolution, I don't like it at all, It freezes sometimes, or becomes slower for a bit, I don't like its design, the camera is like popping out of its back, the battery can't be removed unless you unscrew it....

The great camera and video quality, and the novelty factor of Nokia (with it's reputation) producing such a phone makes me want to get it. But I also read that symbian was not well adapted to touch interface, and can get quite annoying. Ugly, uninspiring and weak interfaces is something we came to expect from nokia, but they usually keep the most important features well in reach and the phone doesn't get in your way when it's doing it's primary purpose - that is phone calls. As opposed to iPhones. Nothing worst then an iPhone when you need to make an urgent important call, or even receive one. It can be quite treacherous.
Now I really haven't tried that phone, so I am only talking in general.
Thanks for the news anyway. The photo and video quality, including night photography are great on this phone, probably the best of all mobiles.

Touching isn't annoying on N8, plus it supports multi touch input aswell now :)

@ Paladin: can u compare UI on N8 to UI on iphone.
For Devs, there is a nokia event @ bristol on the 27th-28th Oct. where they will give programming
session for Qt.
