Bizarre Behaviour

Hello Everyone. Something weird is going on with my PC. Its actually a good thing and not a bad thing. So I have used my 22" Samsung LCD to play my games powered by a GTX280 for the past year. Games work fine, no problems. My dad got a 40" Sony LCD TV FULL HD on last christmas, so I gave my system a try to play games on FULL HD resolution. Logically enough, the higher the resolution of the game, the slower it will run (lower FPS i mean). Weird enough, that didnt happen. I actually gained 20+ FPS on most of the game. I am sure the games get higher FPS when they get a resolution of 1920 x 1080. I put my pc back on the samsung 22" (which has a native resolution of 1680 x 1050), and games run but not fast as when playing on the sony 40". I then bought a samsung FULL HD from another Lebgeek, and tried several games with FULL HD. Again, the games run faster. hehehe, so weird!

Now bare in mind that I used the DVI with the older samsung, and HDMI with the sony and the new samsung. But does changing the cable from DVI to HDMI raise the FPS of games even with highering the resolution of the games from 1680x1050 to 1920x1080 ???????

Weird. It shouldn't go higher if you change from DVI to HDMI. Check maybe when the resolution changed some games would decrease some graphical settings but i could be wrong (never happened with me anyways)

the driver might have a bug in properly identifying the screen thus it does not function at full potential...

Bashlogic could be right. If you upgrade your drivers you might get that increase too on your 1680x1050 res, but still you cant be sure the bug found in the older driver will be fixed in the new one. Anyways try upgrading if it doesn't work rollback your drivers.

Lol not worth wasting the extra FPS. What games? New ones of course, from Starcraft II, Borderlands, Battlefield BC2, DIRT 2, COD 6, CNC 4, F1 2010, NFS Shift, Split second.

well I have a thermaltake BigType 120 customized :P
I modded it to fit another 120mm fan, so now I have dual 120mm intake fans throwing cool air to the heatsink. Q6600 is one of the most hot CPUs available as the first Quad core generation has this heating issue. At winter i reach 33 degrees with the overclock to 2.7GHZ, and 25 degrees when stock. In the summer, I get 55 degrees when stock and about 68 when overclocked (any overclock above 65 degrees is not worth and bad for the cpu). I am stuck with 2.7GHZ due to my shitty Asus P5N32-E SLI. This was "supposed" to be a good mobo, but turned out its perfect for dual core and sucks with quads. Anyway, I will upgrade when the next intel cpu generation is out. So the Q6600 is a keeper right now.

LCD TVs have a big prob in lags so maybe on your old flat-screen the lag is more due to its age so maybe it is more than 150ms to render.
