bskaram Hey I am currently subscribed to a 1Mbps/256Kbps download/upload ADSL connection with IDM. While downloading, i get an average speed of 83 KB/s, and uploading at 20 KB/s...Sometimes they get higher sometimes lower! Anyone with a similair subscribtion? How much does your download/upload speed average? Edit: I corrected the speed and notations...thanks for the note!
MrClass yes and its 512Kb not 512mb. And please be careful about the notations. KB is kilobyte. Kb is kilobit. Same as for MB and Mb.
dp0001 usually i take 80% of what is advertised so: 1 megabit = 1000kb divide by 8 = 125KB/s that is theoretical then take 80% of that = 100KB/s thats more or less what you should have
rolf We're subscribed to Ogero 1mbps and download for big files is in the 90-100 K range. As dp0001 said, about 100K is what you should have, and it should usually not drop below 90K. But some servers will also limit your download speed, so it depends on what you're visiting the most. If that number is calculated based on all downloads, including images and webpages, then it might be lower then 90. Regarding the upload speed, I haven't measured it.
rolf Check out Ogero's website (www.ogero.gov.lb) or call them for this info, because I am not sure about it and am afraid of giving you false information. EDIT: pfff I finally did it myself: http://www.ogero.gov.lb/Published/EN/dslcprices.html
MrClass Dont forget that ADSL and even HDSL are shared connections. You wont be able to reach the full advertised speed. If you really need 1Mbps, you can go with dedicated connection which will cost you 1100$ per month :P At least there is no quota limit :)
