  • AUB Required SAT Grades

Hello everybody!

According to the AUB website:
Admission decision in AUB is based 50% on high school grades (grade 10 + grade 11) and 50% on SAT scores (Critical Reading + Math).
Admission is competitive and equally based on the above two requirements.
My question is what are the current required SAT grades to be accepted in the following majors:
-Computer and Communication Engineer.
-Mechanical Engineering.
-Civil Engineering.
-Computer Science.

Any help is very appreciated!
The best help that you might get is by contacting AUB :) or by referring to your academic adviser at school.

Actually, at AUB they have no specific grades, because the admission is competitive...

Any members here accepted (or rejected) at AUB in the last two years? What was your SAT grades, and what majors did you apply for?

I noticed that. But I also recall the AUB woman coming to our school and pointing out that you needed a certain SAT grade to get into Biology or Chemistry or whatever. But I also remember her saying that getting in to the freshman program doesn't require solid numbers. The system just lines you up with other candidates and takes the best 500, let's say.
I think you'll need to score something around the 1200 - 1400 level.
For CCE/ECE, you need at least 1200 and a strong academic record.
My school record was mediocre, but my SAT/CV/Motivation letter got me in.
That was a few years ago, I've heard that AUB has gotten even harder to get into especially in Engineering.
This is taken off the AUB website concerning applications:
Regular Sophomore: Students with Lebanese Baccalaureate or equivalent, IB Diploma, GCE A levels and German Abitur.

Regular Freshman: Students with High School Diploma or any Secondary School Certificate (other than the Lebanese Baccalaureate and French Baccalaureate).

Transfer students: Students transferring from another university.

Early Freshman: Students ranking in the upper 40% of their 1st (G 10) and 2nd (G 11) secondary years and with a minimum SAT I of the 1050.

Early Sophomore: Students ranking in the upper 40% of their 1st (G 10) and 2nd (G 11) secondary years and with a minimum total SAT I of:

1100 for Arts and Nursing
1200 for Sciences, Business and Agriculture
1250 for Engineering and Architecture
The SAT score indicated is a minimum of 1250, but you have week chances of getting in on such a score. Try something in the range of 1300 and 1450 (over 1600) to guarantee that you can get in or even placed on the waiting list. This concerns both the Math and Critical Reading sections. Add a 550 over Writing, and you have to have a score range of 1850 and 1950 (over 2400).
something in the range of 1350 and 1550
The scores given by AUB are out of 1600… if he gets 1550 he has a shot at getting into an Ivy League.

Yeah, I just noticed the typo mistake of 1550 which should have been 1450. But in reality, the SAT exam scores have changed ever since they added the writting section.

So you have 800 points for writing, 800 for Math section and 800 for Critical reading.
An average score is 1530.

When it was out of 1600, a good score would have been in range of 1300 and 1450.
I agree that it's very cempetitive, especially the enginneering majors cause they're having tons of applications each year so if you can couple yours with a good motivation letter and a couple of good recomendation ones then you can even your chances more.
Some folks try this thing where they enter a major with low applicants going to it and then transfer after a semester or two but that might backfire if they don't accept your transfer :P (and you might have to pay for a couple of credits and you wouldn't be able to transfer to the new major).
I don't have a clear idea about the SAT score that you need but I'll ask my friend, he's a second year in mechanical engineering so he might ask the folks there!

cheers
8 days later
I had 1200 and same case as Samer

Math I had 700 though
4 months later
I admitted to AUB about 3 weeks ago .
My Choices were : 1- Computer Science
2-Business
3-Math
4-Political Studies
My SAT score is 1120 , 700 Math , 420 Critical , and 450 Writing and my school grades are about 11/20
My question is , will i get an accept-ion ?? and what faculties i will be accepted for ?? ( Regular admission)
Please i need your help and thanks :)
lol no body can help you here in what faculty AUB will put you in.
I think because of you shool grade, you might not get accepted in Computer Science but who knows i hope you do.
But if i were you and if i didnt get accepted in Computer Science, i'll go with their pick and then i'll do a transfer to Computer Science.
Anyway good luck!!

Most probably, given your grades you will get put either in math of political science because these majors usually have less students. There is alot of student traffic towards CS and Business at AUB usually so they make sure they take the best of the best in terms of grades and those who have lower grades are put in majors that relatively have few students like Math,Physics and PS. Thats what I heard 3 years ago from my school principle.

But what many do is they go into another related major for example Maths if they are not admitted to CS, they do very well on the common courses between the two and if they have good grades they transfer to CS easily. Good luck :)
It's about luck and how many students admitted
Thank You Mr.Ayman Farhat :) and Mr. Moie
