edgelord101 I wanted to find out what most people would prefer here. Let's say you can choose either one of these two choices and you cannot add anything to them (e.g. adding a large screen to connect your laptop to when you go home). Of course, by gaming console I mean whatever you like. PS3, Xbox, or Nintendo. Which would you choose? A gaming desktop or a laptop with a gaming console?
azife I would take a laptop+console for me A gaming desktop you must update it every 1 year a console it's a done deal if you want originals go ps3 you want copies go xbox 360 (xbox live is much better then psn but it's not free)
elchebib I'd go with the laptop and gaming console for several reasons. As azife said, once you buy a console you won't have to worry about upgrading the graphics card, hard drive, RAM and CPU. You buy a console, you have it for 5 years and you won't need to upgrade anything. Game developers are the one who improve their software to churn out better graphics. Its true that games look much better on a high-end PC, but you'd have to think about the cost of upgrades for your system. Second, installing too many games on your gaming desktop would put a strain on its hard drive and you have to take extra care with it to handle the loads of data you cram into it (defrag, clean up). Plus, gaming on consoles is much more comfortable (sitting on a couch) and you get to game on your relatively larger screen.
crazy If you build yourself a high-end desktop, you can be playing on it for 3-4 years to come, with the newest games every year, while putting the full graphics on. (no need for upgrade every year... to new components). I prefer having a high-end desktop PC, and a mini laptop that costs nothing just for travelling. But all in all, it really depends on what you want: Do you want to move a lot and work (laptop) Do you want to be able to play games on your couch (ps3 xbox PC hooked to your tv with gaming controler, yes it does exist) Answer the first question to yourself, the other will follow depending on what are your first needs.
JasonZLegend A gaming console ( PS3 or XBOX 360 ) desktops & laptops always have a lag in games, even if you have the best graphic card, rams, cpus & motherboard
