Any help appreciated, thanks in advance.
I am getting booted from the PSN constantly. I have made some changes to network and PS3 lately, but cannot isolate.
PS3--change = upgraded to scorpio blue 320 gb 7200 rpm hard drive (formerly 80gb hard drive)
Network--change = went from cable to Fiber Optic Internet.
Problems started after that. Happens when in multiplayer, and also happens when PS3 is just sitting there. All of sudden, it says that I have been logged out of PSN. Can sign back in immediately.
Speeds of 13 MBps is pretty constant, but PS3 usually reports around 9MBps.
Router/Modem is an Actiontec PK 5000
Originally, I used it just as a modem, and continued using router and network I used with Cable modem which was an Apple Airport Express. When problem started occurring, I started using the Actiontec directly as the router as well which produced a NAT 2. Problems continued. I have not hardwired it yet, but I did take the Airport Express and stuck it next to PS3, and am now using it to effectively hardwire the PS3 which is connected with an ethernet cable to the Airport express which is connected wirelessly to the Actiontec.
Throughout all of these attempted troubleshooting fixes, the problems remains. If anything, it feels like it has gotten worse recently.
I spoke with Playstation help line, and they blamed it on busy servers, such as Activision for MW2, but like I said, it has happened when playing MLB, not online by the way, just playing single player. It also happens when PS3 is just sitting there as in I leave the room, grab a drink, come back in and logged off of PSN.
Basically, Sony help line just pointed finger at someone else and dismissed me.
I thought it could be related to harddrive getting hot and shutting down or causing the problem, but nothing suggests that is what is happening, and could not find much on line that said they were having problem with 7200 causing network issues.
So that is all I know, which is admittedly not much. It is pretty frustrating, and I just am not much of a tech geek, although I try albeit unsuccessfully.
Thanks again for any suggestions.

From what I can gather, your problem seems to be related with IP address assignment.
Do you notice the problem when someone in the house connects to the modem? Or does it happen haphazardly?
Plus, your configuration of PS3---ethernet to Airport Express-----wireless to modem is pretty weird. Why do that when the PS3 already comes with built-in WiFi? Just connect your PS3 directly through WiFi with your modem and see what happens.

The only reason I hooked the PS3 to the Airport Express via Ethernet was during my troubleshooting. At some point I decided I needed to rule out that the internal card on the PS3 was not going bad.
At one point I had the PS3 hooked up wirelessly to the modem/router, and the problem was occurring then as well.
I am not the only person that is drawing a signal off of the router. There are other computers, but they are usually always connected, but not always drawing the signal at the same time.
Not sure if that matter, but any further help would be appreciated. Thanks for posting.

I'm not familiar with your modem. However, again, it seems that you have an IP conflict. Whenever, any of the computers in the house wants to connect to the internet (messenger apps, checking for updates, etc...), it'll use the PS3's IP and your PS3 will disconnect on its own since it lost its connection.
Try this: connect your PS3 to the modem (wirelessly or wired) and turn off all your computers for an hour or so. If you don't get disconnected, then there is a problem with IP address assignment. In this case, call your ISP and ask them to reconfigure your modem to automatically assign IP addresses and you should do the same to all your computers and the PS3. IF you know about IP address assignements, you can do that yourself. Google your modem manual and check how to correctly assign IP addresses.
