hey guys, here's the deal
my isp is IDM i have a speedtouch modem ( not wireless ) , the ethernet cable is connected to a d-link wireless router...no problem with the internet whatsoever
when i play online i usually take the ethernet cable out the router and plug it directly in the ps3, i get a NAT type open... and when i play wireless the NAT is strict ( tried all port forwarding for like 3 days didn't work , that's not the issue )
the router has 4 LAN...
im plugging the ps directly to the lan, im still getting NAT strict
all im asking is how to make this particular LAN , act like a normal switch, regardless of the wireless options...
basically i want nat type open with the ps3 plugged to the LAN of the wireless router ( this should be do-able considering it's a wired connection )
thx =)
maybe you can make your router act as an access point only, so you deal with the speedtouch.
if i do that , the wireless connection would be disabled
what i'm looking for is that the router acts as an access point when it comes to the LAN only - in a way-
like dividing the router into 2 : the lan and the wireless
here's how the network is :
ethernet lan
telephone line---------speed touchmodem---------------------d-link wireless router----------PS3

if i connect the ps3 directly via ethernet , disabling the router , i get NAT open
if i connect it wirelessly or wired via lan ,, i get NAT strict
i think that your problem is in the router itself, because when you connect your ps3 via LAN, the router supposed to act as a switch.
make sure you are not using the wan port on the router and sure that the Speedtouch open the DSL connection.
3 things to check:
1- the router is in AP mode (not sure about D-link one, at least in my Edimax).
2- connect your Speedtouch and the wireless router on a LAN ports NOT WAN PORT.
well isnt a wireless router = wireless access point + ethernet router ?
so basically by pluging anything to the LAN ,it should act as if im using the modem's ethernet....
ugh...thx dude
i cant turn into into an access point cause warcheh, considering my router is in a very very....high ...place :P
thx though =)

Don't use it as an access point. cause the speedtouch is stupid. I've had problems accessing other computers at home because Speedtouch was thinking they were "inactive".

Plug your PS3 in a LAN port on your router and your problem will be solved using DMZ.
See your router configuration to add your PS3 to the DMZ zone.

Cheers.
