Iphone crappy battery life

You know I really like the iPhone but right now by beloved girlfriend is in Italy with her iPhone 3G, and you know what, the iPhone does great when you're on your couch in your own home, but take it outside, and use EDGE with skype, wifi, etc... like it's supposed to be... and you're lucky if the battery holds one day without charging!

Nah I think Apple computers are OK. I have a Macbook, and well it stays at home, and it is doing fine here, has a good battery life (2-3 hours). It fell down once from about 1 meter height and almost split in half! But I hear the new titanium ones should be sturdy, so I cant really comment on that.
But the iPhone really deceived me in "real-life rough conditions".
Good thing I didn't get one myself ... :)

My sister got an iPad a month ago to replace her laptop because her laptop had gotten ruined. I told her she wouldn't like it and that she should just get a normal laptop. Apple and their stupid "practically a computer" stuff are pointless. Anyone with at least a little knowledge of computers know an iPad does not match up to a laptop. She ended up trading the iPad for a Toshiba laptop a week later. :D

3G has a really terrible battery life... especially if it's running iOS 4.0 and above ...

True, iOS4 doesn't play well with the 3G. I am surprised by iPhone 4's battery life as well.

I'm running iOS4 on a 3GS and have had no problem with the battery.

You might want to learn how to shut down the application that are running in the background.

That's a clear battery drain if you're running iOS4.

Double tap home button to bring up the multi-task screen, keep pressing on an app until it starts shivering and click the X icon.

3G doesn't support multitasking. At least not officially. Worst thing you can do to your 3G is install the multitasking os on it.
