  • Reliable DSL internet connection or alternatives

Hi,

I wanted to share with you some updates about Ogero and Sodetel services.

Just paid an extra $80 on top of my current DSL subscription with Ogero, so i decided to look for better solutions where i can get a reliable service and some free bandwidth instead of the pathetic 4GB/month that Ogero is offering.

So, i picked Sodetel because i saw their adverts for unlimited bandwidth.

I sent them an email a couple of days ago but no one got back to me. I decided to visit their HQ and speak to sales since they're not that far from where i live, perhaps they have good solutions that might be of interest.

So the Sales lady refused to offer me the unlimited offer when she knew about the 10GB total download bandwidth i did last month. And also, she said that they have no solutions for my needs, even with the free bandwidth after 12am.

So when i started challenging her about the offers and alternatives, she said that there are no free spaces on the Jal El Dib switch, which i'm currently on.

What are you guys using? Are there any reliable alternatives to Sodetel and Ogero around in Lebanon?
Wait, how did she know about your 10GB download? You shouldn't have told her, you could just went with the plan and then give them hell.

I heard alot of good things about wise but dunno im not really sure about it, im gonna go with their wireless plan next month though.
Man, she's an idiot.

She thinks she's clever, the gang there were having a laugh about the size of the bandwidth while i was chatting with the girl.

Anyway, the girl calculated the bandwidth based on the $80 overcharge bill. How accurate is that? i'm not sure.

I explained to the girl that i use my connection for work, skype calls and meeting, uploading source code i write and screenies etc... but i don't think she quite get that

Too bad for them, i'm still looking for an alternative and telling the story to everybody i know.
you could try going on a different day to see if you catch a different lady, and this time avoid mentioning that you are a heavy user.
I remember that if you want to switch to an unlimited downloads nights plan you have to buy a new line from Ogero then represent all the ADSL documents needed and wait for a whole month (pain in the as*) so heyk heyk you have to start at zero, change to another company.
All I hope is that the day they will finally upgrade 512 and 1mb connections to 3 and 5mb they will greatly upgrade the total downloads per month and not 4gb...

Is Ogero giving unlimited night DSL?
Unfortunately no :/

I've been with Ogero for 3 years and they haven't done Nothing to improve the service
did anyone hear any news from IMEWE cable?
A new line from Ogero because Ogero is the Lebanese Telecom, but it's your ISP that will buy a line for you

i would suggest VISP or Fastnet for real unlimited usage... with a lame ping...

as i understood ( i can be wrong), there is no real unlimited ADSL with sodetel
fair usage = 100 MB / day which in turn is extremely lame once u think about it... once u exceed this u might get dc or ur internet will slow down... that is why the girly told you, she cant help ya....

Ohh. 100 MB/Hour. That's pathetic my friend. I currently live in batroun, and having an extremely reliable DSL internet connection.

Refer to this topic for more details...
I like Ogero because they have overall rather good quality (good ping, good reliability) and they have a fixed quota so no FUP, and you know what you are getting, no bad surprises, but no good surprises either.
