  • wap vs blackberry internet service what is better ? more economised ?

hello all

i would like to know the main difference between the WAP service and BIS internet service
im a blackberry new user and im planning to subscribe in each of the service mentioned but i
wish if someone can tell me the difference same for the benefits provided by each of the service

Any explanation is greatly appreciated !

Thnks !
BIS you can use Browser, BBM, Push Email, and all BIS only apps.
Wap you can't.
I feel BIS speed is faster than WAP.
i need more thread about the prices from all lebanese mobile service providers

MTC and Alfa

thnks again ,
If you're on Postpaid:
MTC: $40 a month. Limit is 120 MB (or 100 MB). $1 per 10 extra MBs (I was on MTC and didn't use it all)
Alfa: $40 a month. Limit is 500 MB. BUT it's currently not working at all, and they have been fixing for the last 2 weeks.

Prepaid:
Alfa: $9.5 a WEEK. Limit is 24 MB. Currently not working.
MTC: Not available.

WAP: (Not sure)
Alfa: $3 on Prepaid, 20 MB limit. No info about postpaid.
MTC: $3 on Prepaid, 25 MB limit. Same for postpaid (I guess)
so after this whole explanation i have conclude thats using WAP service is more cheap and economised than BIS and it can offer the same services offered by WAP as for : winlive ,chatting programs , facebook etc ., only BBM cannot be used ? finally do i have to choose wap or bis ?

Again your answer is appreciated !
@Eddie:
Correction of info regarding the MTC services:

BIS is available on the prepaid lines and it costs 40 USD with 100 MB of consumption per month.
WAP for prepaid lines costs 5 USD and gives 25 MB per month of consumption.
Since you have a Blackberry, you should go with the BIS. A Blackberry phone without BIS is a useless brick in my opinion. Many of the apps will not work with a WAP connection. In addition, if you're going to use the phone for light browsing, emails and chatting, then the 25 MB will not be enough.

You could try the WAP for a month and see for yourself.
Nope man. WAP doesn't let you use Facebook and Wlive. Only BIS.

No, it's only available on post-paid lines.

WAP uses GPRS, BIS uses EDGE (read about the difference of both technologies on Wikipedia).
I would advise you get mobile internet (not WAP) if you don't care about BlackBerry Messenger (everything else would work) – here's the alfa package.

Thank you all for your kindly reply ,

As for what Elchebib suggested is to activate the mobile internet ? what does it deffer from WAP or BIS and this service is offered by MTC or Alfa ?

Thnks ,

I stand corrected, I thought you said it only available on pre-paid – it used to be post paid only (at Alfa at least) but they recently put up pre-paid packages.
