Well, a couple of things bug me about this.
Internet access may be a rip-off here, even restrictively so that not everyone can afford to have DSL installed.
In my opinion that still doesn't make breaking into someone else's network and accessing the internet without their permission any less wrong.
Let's forget about the fact that it's illegal. It's just impolite, it's an invasion of privacy.
That being said, I can think of a few situations in which it might be necessary, like if you desperately need to check your e-mail for a critical message and you're stuck in some public location without internet access. It's still illegal, but in emergencies it's justifiable to an extent.
Also, I think it a good idea to leave your wireless network open, without a password, and free for your neighbors to use. In fact,
Bruce Schneier encourages it. It's sort of like providing a very useful public service. You help others.
Oh, and last time I checked, WPA2 was still secure unless you count
Hole 196 which allows an
insider to perform a man-in-the-middle attack.
