hello , well i stumbled lately with weird virus every time i boot up my os i get a message your windows needs to be restarted its a freshly formatted system :( also legit :( , windows 7 enterprise , anyway i can still boot up to my other os , windows 7 ult , ubuntu , xp
so does anyone have any idea what can i do , i've deleted all the files located in windows/temp and , appdata/local/temp and i still get the virus prompt , if you know any software virus scanner (pro one or very effective) it would be awesome thanks in advance
ps: kaspersky 2011 sucks really bad i don't know why it went all crazy lately and didn't solve my problem/virus
I use AVG and it does a fair job (there aren't any viruses that I can know they exist at least) Give it a try, the free version is good enough as well for the job.

yea avg is good i will give it try thx :D
i have tried AVG and have been dissapointed I think if you are willing to shell out some cash you could buy a good antivirus i recomend NOD32, BitDefender, Norton360 , you can also get the following for free Avast! Home Edition, Bitdefender 2010 Free edition, AVIRA Antivir Home Edition. If you go with the free alternitive you should go with Avast.

I have to say my experience is limited and only applies to my own pc. I installed AVG on a format clean slate Windows installation. My problem with AVG is that it's hard to turn it off (impossible?). I don't know if it's effective since I haven't had anything to compare against. I haven't installed it on an already infected PC but I was able to use it to clean the HDD of my old PC over the network.

I am content with AVG but I can't really recommend it since I don't know any better.
Be smart and install Kaspersky Internet Security.
my personal advice, never install an anti-virus, most of them will control the OS and slow it down, and you will have a hard time stoppin/uninstallng it, anti-virus = waja3 rass , win7 seems secure i installed it 6months ago and still working pretty good without any major errors/spywares, if anything infected your OS just format and reinstall...

That's mostly because you are now aware of what sites to visit and what sites not to, as well as what files to open and what files not to.

I haven't installed Anti virus software for well over 4 years.
I personally use the excellent Microsoft Security Essentials as an antivirus/anti malware. And if you use firefox combine both adblock and Noscript apps. This will ensure maximum security for your OS.

it seems that kaspersky 2011 while it was fully scanning my computer it detected a very ancient file i have always kept (games) and it activated that virus in a weird way that it infected my whole os i couldnt boot my computer unless it had suddenly restart in a 2 seconds tried many things to solve this problem , my only solution was to format my pc , downloaded a custom made os :) and im very happy with it with Microsoft Security Essentials , in conclusion no more legit os for me although it was for free :D
a month later
you could have downloaded malwarebytes i use all the time
i didn't update this thread , what happened to me last time while reinstalling all the softwares from my backup hdd after format ive encountered same virus , after some tests ive made hers the virus location was in windows\system32\wins\svchost.exe something like that . the problem is that when you log in to windows instantly it will restart your computer so installing any kind of software is a fail , you need experience :) to resolve this kind of virus
can you go to safe mode ?

ive already solved the problem in like 1 month ago :) , i suppose i can do whatever i want , but theres one one problem with this version that i have downloaded and the editor didnt want to help me out with it , that the firewall is disabled on this os (windows 7) and it seems i cant enable it , he told me that the included microsoft security essentials is better and no need for firewall , its custom made os (neo reconia os)

I do have Kaspersky Internet Security 2011 installed (just to be on the safe side, and to test this version - Plus, a 150MB folder won't affect the system). I launched it once, updated the database, set up my personal settings, and disabled the auto-run feature.
And for the past 25 days, i haven't launched it once.

I've been doing this for almost 3 years too.

Great choice Kassem. And make sure to use the "Kaspersky URL Advisor" in your Firefox.
