this thing should stay active for at least a decade with not one single recharge ! It charges up during the day using the built in Solar cell and flashes its Blue LED into the night, all automatic .

why should i, it does not turn on but at night, besides its not very disturbing, ill try to sleep while its flashing tonight :) its a very calm flash btw, fades out .

not every creation needs to have the marks of epical achievements.
of the epical ones, many are based and composed of smaller achievements.
it is those smaller ones that make things intriguing!

Keep up the creative work, regardless of what who says or how simple it is.
all there are building blocks towards your ultimate achievement!

Does it have a battery or is it just capacitor based?
Is it your genuine design or one off the net?
Do you have any idea about the charge/discharge rate (and how much energy remains inside the storage at all times).

Those are the design questions I'd want to think about once I make such an inception. Anyway, you seem to be having increased dexterity recently.. Keep it up.

yes it does, and more ! the led is rated at 20milliamps and Ive got 2 amps of battery power . The Led flashes and is not lit all the time. like i said i expect this to keep on running for about 10 years if it has sufficient daylight. 6-7 hours of good daylight should be sufficient to charge the battery, and it does not go on until its mainly dark outside, and it still charges at low light :)

@artithma: Nope its not my original circuit here since its very advanced and quite genius ! this is achieved with minimal powerless . if i was to make this it wouldn't last 3 hours :P . the flashing is based on a capacitor that charges and discharges . I should take some measuring , it would be cool to find out i will see how much juice is left in the batts after a full night .

New one exists now, uses wind power (not fully optimized yet, rotor is reaching "terminal velocity" too soon :P)
i will have to redesign the rotor .

Quite cool.
But is it useful? How powerful is the LED? It reminded me of the lights that they put on top of skyscrapers to warn aircrafts. I'm guessing the led is not powerful enough (and it should flash not fade for this purpose)... but maybe with some improvement it can :). It can also be used on top of mountain summits and other places where there is no power available.
Also it looks a bit crude to market (you need a design that hides the components)

Its only for show :) nothing commercial here. But i think its a cool Gift .The Led is quite powerful taking into consideration its tiny size :)

as in a small system that takes over power for a router for about 5 minutes or so until the power goes back ? well that's nice, and its available in the market, but a cool project to do, will see about that ! :) practically needs nothing, some batteries to mach the power needed by the router, a huge capacitor to create the uninterrupted power supply effect and some switching circuitry, that's it !

Impressive, very well done.
Last year I built a 12v Solar cell charger but didn't work as intended to, i initially dumped it. Gonna do something similar this time.

Is it possible you pm me the schematics for the solar cell and wind powered generator ?
If the schematics are yours i will definitely credit you!
