How many degrees of freedom is the arm i suggest giving it atleast four, so in can access any point in the arms raduis.

I've got some questions if you dont mind answering (i'm australian born of lebanese parents)
- how easy is it to get electronics components in lebanon?
- Are there any hobbyist shops around?
- how easy is it to purchase stuff online and get it delivered to your house?

Mate any info would be greatly appreciated, as i might be moving to lebanon to live there for a while...

-Not all component are available here, but a good deal is available. so far the only thing i had to order was an atmega644p micro-controller .
-What do you mean by hobby shops? we have shops that sell advanced RC planes and crafts.
-Shipping is the same with any other country but you have to worry a bit about the customs :)

nice project

I've heard about assembly, BASIC, PBASIC, ROBOTC, and microC, but this is the first time I've heard of Arduino. From the website, it resembles very much the microC and ROBOTC as all are based on C/C++, but with difference of having the Arduino as an open source langauge and ROBOTC can only be used with LEGO Mindstorms.

Not much more will be going on with this project, last thing i did was adding an electronic eye that i removed from an optical mouse. It will enable the robot to measure distance covered as well as speed and direction :) arduino is one of the easiest and elaborate platform for robotics ! I'm amazed at the fact that you had no previous knowledge about arduino, and you call yourself an electronics GEEK ! :P
