Are warez allowed?

I'm new here in this forum, but I always followed the news you guys posted about games & internet, & online gaming, I didn't know that there are others out there in Lebanon who buy Original Games with their money.

After reading some of your posts, many problems were fixed for me, Steam Downloading Problems, Online High Latency, Buying Original PC games, etc...

Anyway I have a question about the forum rules:

Do you guys support posting links to ware, cracks, etc...

Even though many forums forbid linking to piracy, or admitting to pirating games (cough Gamespot cough)
Do you guys allow such things in here.

I know this is lebanon, ew nehna badna enmasha halna b2aya tare2a, benzabet el wada3 ban el piracy wel original.

I'm not Samer and I'll let him answer it for himself but it is about time we should start getting the stealing image out of our heads.

You can say "come on it's only a software and it costs too much I can't afford it", but that shows you have never written your own program and it is like you come up with all the exhaustive work and end up having someone take it from you for granted as if it is their right to have it for free.

I was the first one to always buy pirated and illegal stuff but trust me once you know how much work is put into it, you'll regret every single illegitimate purchase.

deep down i know its wrong downloading cracked softwares , but i have too many reasons why i do that

1- i cant afford the money but if i do i wont buy it either cause i dont see anyone around me do the crazy thing and buy it
2- when you go to the shop in lebanon ask him you want office 2010 he'll say i dont have 2010 but i do have 2007 but i need 2-3 days to get it for you and it cost 200$++
3- buying softwares means your going to use that software every day but for me i only use these softwares when needed and if i do need any software and its very important to me for Ex: Atoll for communication system i heard the cost of this software is nearly 24000$++ :/ i downloaded it for free :)
4- its for fun
5- i dont sell my downloaded softwares
6- i bet the government is using cracked softwares ;_

well to be honest downloading cracked softwares is alot better for me than buying them But never sell them i will use them only for myself

I swear if we had software retailers here i would try my best to buy anything i need legit. But come on where do we have retailers here ? gaming shops ? none!

Thanks to my relatives and my dad who travel often, i can ask them to get me this or that game. Thank god we have steam right now to buy a few games i want.

I rarely use bootleg games on my pc, i only have 3 and if i get the chance to buy legit copies of them i wouldn't say no.

If everybody around you will steal cars, you will steal too? Just because you cannot afford new Lexus or BMW.

Yesterday i see latest and official Office and Windows in BHV and Virgin.

Someone will steal your boat, drink on it, and make a hole, so it is drowned. His excuse - he need it just for one day. Police will release him, because by YOUR logic - he is right.

6 - government have contracts with Microsoft and paying YOUR money to them. The more you steal, the more control Microsoft and others have on YOUR government. And next time your government will try to raise head, they will push them to ground, just by best argument - you have PIRACY, your citizens steal our property, your country at the end owe us a lot of money. You belong to US, and just shut up, and do what we ask, or we will take our property by arresting your bank accounts.

2)Get internet credit card, and buy online anywhere on this planet.
3)Use bank transfer at the end and buy again, in any corner of this planet

Now, 99% of my installed softwares are not pirated. i benefited from the MSDN alliance with my home university. That alliance allowed me to download every single microsoft product for free. Including windows 7 (prof and home edition) and Vista (all versions). I still want adobe CS5. the suite costs more than 2000 $. :(

Nevertheless, today there are a lot of alternatives for those who want to go purely ethical. Just don't feel superior by doing so.

It's not about feeling superior my friend, quite the contrary, its feeling inferior when you steal others' property.

People tend to take it softly when it's about computer-related things because they can't relate to what they are stealing.

Take an example that BMW produces 100 cars a day. By the look of your argument, is it right for you to buy a car for $500 from someone who steals it right off the company just because your neighbor did so and your old Renault cannot compete with his latest sports car?

As far as I know most open-source alternatives are able to get most of the job done in a neat and efficient way, unless ofc the prestige of having you without your branded toolkit bites you in the guts. Nothing justifies piracy.

@ Yorgi, buy only the products you need. I guess you want Photoshop, Illustrator and Dreamweaver... do you need anything else?

P.S: I actually bought the whole Adobe CS5 Master Collection for 4$ and I thought it's a bit expensive...
