mark.assad wroteMy friend asks me to come over and fix his connection, and here i was thinking it was one of these issues where he changes his ip or screws his router's configurations or even mistypes his wireless password (Yes it has happened).
The guy has 256kbps from IDM and a Thompson Speedtouch Router (sry dont have the model #)
So heres the thing. He has a desktop pc and two laptops. Internet on these PCs was working normally until he changed their positions. He switched the desktop from his room, which was connected through LAN, with Laptop "A" which was also connected though LAN downstairs where the wireless signal is so low. When connecting the Desktop downstairs through the wired plug, the internet is not working, and no packets are received and the network status is set to Public Network and cannot be changed. Also it gives an error connecting to the router!
I tried reconnecting Laptop A there (downstairs), the internet worked fine and network settings were automatically detected.
I tried connecting another laptop down there, lets say Laptop B, it gave the same error as the desktop PC.
I retook his desktop pc to his room and connected it through the wire like it used to be before, the internet worked >_>
What do you suggest might be the problem ? And what should i try to do ?
1-changing a desktop position wont change change anything with your connection unless the cable has been changed
2-if your desktop is connecting through lan and its not working then it might be one of these problems:
a- your cable is unplugged or damaged
b- your cable is plugged at the receiving end and not at the sending end or your sending end is damaged
c- you need to reconfigure your lan network or you have a faulty lan or a faulty router
Laptop A is connected through lan and wireless , why do you want to do that its confusing us to detect the real problem , no need to try connecting on another room you can do that in front of the router , its the same if you want to make sure that the router still functioning
