i understand
hell im premed i program for fun and i only know vb well
but even in vb (which is considered the most basic language) you can do SOOO MUCH
you make your own download manager, IRC client, internet explorer addons,
youtube and nba.com video downloaders, http mp3 downloaders,
fixes for certain viruses, fixes for certain OS issues,
game trainers. and other applications that you just need to make urself (torrent ratio cheaters that dont get caught, customized server, i even made an application that logs in to my router and resets the internet when its slow so i dont have to do it manually through internet explorer)
the sense of achievement after every program is made is remarkable. Even the most basic creation is genius. I can only imagine what real software developers feel like...
The reason i never got into it profesionnally though is because the pay isnt so good, finding a job is hard, and i have programmer friends who have graduated and working at great companies but they tell me its not like before they cant program for fun or do the software they want to make anymore.
They only make software that sells, and personal software doesnt always sell.
