  • 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa [Xbox 360 Review]

It's what we all wait for every 4 years, It's the world's most popular event , It's The World Cup Tournament. Simultaneously EA Sports releases a Football game to cover the event and usually that World Cup game combines all the technologies they have been working during the last 4 years in their yearly FIFA game.
This Year's World Cup game is like any other World Cup game : The best football game you can ever play ("La creme de la creme") . Comparing it to the previous 4 FIFA games, it felt the best while playing it due to several reasons:

First what I've really noticed is the Graphical Improvements; players looks awesome, colors are vivid and well worked and for the first time coaches (managers) models have the same quality as player ones. Above all this graphics Improvement , the game does feel smoother that previous FIFA games, I don't know what was the FPS is previous FIFA games but playing the World Cup feels simply better.
Similar to previous Wold Cup titles the presentation is at its best. The menus are yellow and orange letting you get into the African mood, the game presentation is epic ( the music, the direction, the commentary ). These may be the stuff that EA Sports UK always try to work on but this year they have added a new interesting factor in the games presentation : The Crowd. During the match you will start seeing crowd cut scenes. Its not just any cut-scenes because the Crows does react with flow of the match happening; you will see fans arguing and talking in case you are loosing and cheering for you when you win.

As for the gameplay, since FIFA 09 I have the feeling that football games are almost done, they can't add new gameplay elements , not before moving to a newer generation. But I wrong. Its true that no huge stuff has been added except for the new penalty system, but FIFA 09 and FIFA 10 felt different when playing them after having some Wold Cup fun. Both older games are excellent but they miss the simplicity of the World Cup game. In other words they are too professional while the World Cup does feel Pro and easy to handle as the same time. Also they have added a new 2-button configuration for new players that all they want is to shoot the ball and have fun; Personally I didn't think it will be effective but when I've tried I was impressed by its simplicity and by the choice the AI make for you (pass or lob, etc...). Plus my dad who always get confused with all the buttons liked this new feature and was able to compete and enjoy the game rather than getting mad not able to getting used to the controls.

The 2010 FIFA WORLD CUP SOUTH AFRICA stands up to the expectation usually a World Cup game have by being the best and most enjoyable football game you can play during the last 4 years.
It deserves a 9.5/10
