Why immigrate to a country that prizes it's free speech laws if you're going to behave like that? It boggles my mind. Don't those people deserve to be deported for that behaviour?

I respect religions that I feel deserve it... but it seems that attitudes here are a bit dated, not much I can do about it.

we got of track here in between being objective and subjective. we all have opinions and disrespect for bad behavior but as it is not of interest to judge on sensitive issues and cause spinoffs, it would be of respect to others to avoid going into such discussions. as Nuc said, this is primarily a tech related forum and community.

I came from another that had off-topic forums that included the freedom to hold discussions on various topics. The discourse was respectful but honest.

If you're hot-headed enough to get offended by mere criticism of your sensibilities, the internet isn't a place for you.

And I've been on various tech forums in various countries, none crack down as hard as what I just saw here. It's a real shame.

pikatore, it seems that you're the one who have a lot to learn here. ALL religions deserve the utmost respect because last time I checked, none of them encouraged violence and hating on other people. It is some people's practices that are distorting the image/teachings of the religions they think they are following. Consequently, it is those people who do not deserve the respect, and not the religion itself.

I think we are allowed to debate here until this thread is seen a flame war to be closed.

First of all, you are using a single incident to trash a religion. That alone should be enough to question your background, your intentions and your bias.

It seems that people are hiding behind freedom of speech to insult. Although the people in the video may be seen wrongful in their doing, they have been provoked to it by shameless insulting people. People have waged war before for insults, why should this be any different.

It seems the neo-christianity would likely stand still to an attack on their religion's symbols (like for example a picture of jesus having an orgy with virgin marrie involved).
I am sure you would stand still, and not be provoked at all. That's the kind of person the new people are becoming. Excuse those few with a little blood and heat in their animal bodies.

I hope this answers your question: Why some muslims are like this? Because they still value honor and are full of blood and heat. They're not dead.

If a religion encourages self-defense, protecting your land, protecting your honor and dignity, that does not mean it's encouraging violence!

Let me ask you this question: Suppose you were walking with your wife, and then some guy slapped your wife, stripped her out of her clothes and raped her right in front of you. In that case, would you actually attack that guy or would you just stand still and watch so you would avoid being labeled as violent?

I'm sure you're going to tell me it's a different story but trust me it is not. When you defend your beliefs, your land and even your religion it's the same as defending your children or your wife. In either case, if you did not fight back you'll be giving up your dignity and in that case I doubt you'll ever be able to sleep at night with a restful conscience.

Think about it... deeply.

Judging from what you guys have posted it seems that Islam is viewed as a Violoent religion(again), i can only say that a doctor(not a Muslim) at the university his father is well known in the political field have told us a million times that Islam is the religion which spread very fast without alot of Wars especailly at the days of the Prophet.
Else this thread must be closed to avoid any flame war even unintentional one. Because not all members can tolerate this.

But there is a difference between defending against a physical attacker, and in this case, assaulting a person who is exercising their right to free speech. Would you agree?

You said in a previous post that none of the religions encouraged hating on other people. This is something I disagreed with, I'm wondering if you want me to continue on my reasons.

And this is the root of the problem in the video. Tolerance and respect are different things. You don't have to respect someone to tolerate them.

Respect is earned, not assumed.
Tolerance? It is necessary for people to practise their rights freely.

And for info, a quick search on Google on 'Christian extremism' should give you the examples you need.

Always bear in mind the difference between extremism and regular faith.

And finally drop the "I'm-a-foreigner-and-believe-in-free-speech-unlike-you-poor-Arabs" act, it gets old.

This said I am not looking to start a flame. So I'll refrain to continue posting on this thread. I'm willing to continue this talk in private messages though.
