My home's post is in Bir Hasan but it seems that we are not registered in the fiber optics loop.
According to Charbel na77as on May 31st "The updates on CADMOS will be applied" or CADMOS will be upgraded or whatever, the current capacity of CADMOS is 622 Mbps (if I am not mistaken), and after the update it will be multiple 10 GBps connections according to this sheet between Cytaglobal and ogero:

http://www.cytaglobal.com/cytaglobal/modules/banners/bannersAddHits.php?link=http://www.cytaglobal.com/cytaglobal/userfiles/file/ogero_cyta%20.pdf&target=_blank&bannerID=238&instancesID=3

Any news about it ?
Probably because Lebanon don't have enough money, and IMEWE will flow directly over CADMOS to ... Cyprus? bypassing Lebanese users.
I hope it is very stupid and will not happen.

Flakk wroteI read somewhere that Fiberoptic cables will replace the copper cables we currently have.
In a few decades fiber will completely replace telephone networks. Ogero will need to get with the times or die.

Edit:
Also, lebanon should be able to implement fiber fairly quickly due to its size.
Size is small, but conditions is awful.
Density of buildings, lack of proper underground communications, chaos in this communications, population lack of technical skills.

And not fiber will replace telephone networks, but IP networks replacing traditional telephony.
As expected we kiss the x100 faster speeds goodbye.
Terranet is still routing their traffic through "WISE" Gateways (starting 15 days ago), so maybe they are installing new cables, and they need a backup, so they used "WISE" network.
any ideas ??? ;)

i noticed some improvements on the "TERRANET DSL" connection few days ago, the speed was stable on 220~225 kbps (256 account) for a long time, so what about you geeks ??
sorry for bothering you, but could someone explain me how does the Ogero internet system work? i mean price wise? they have like four different groups of fees that need to be paid, but got lost while doing the math.

I wanted to know how much would a HDSL connection cost with both internet line and regular. if its not much of a problem

Thanks

Apparently, HDSL only works if you have an internet line, so:

Internet line setup: 13000
HDSL setup including modem: 902000
Total: 915000

Monthly fees: 300000 for HDSL and 5000 for the internet line, so 305000 per month
hey guys are there any improvements in internet packages? such as lower prices, more bandwidth,
real unlimited mobile internet (we all have the right to dream)
I wonder if they still have bandwidth or they're plugging everyone on SAT :/
Fernand wroteI wonder if they still have bandwidth or they're plugging everyone on SAT :/
I'm wondering that too. Since they're not doing anything but expanding Centrals at the moment, I wonder when each ISP's capacity will be full.

so guys?...we were sooooo excited about the IMEWE cable and the fiber optic plans...etc
Any updates? am I going to see a ... 4mb/sec (don't need more) connection in this life? :P

I'm not sure but i heard rumors about the reason concerning the horrible traffic these days, because they are replacing the old wires with fiber optics, im not sure if that's real, but i don't trust this, i mean its Lebanon, a country used to be the lead in the ME when it come to services and what not, but the current Lebanon is probably the worse of all time, countries like Angola,Mozambique and Sri lanka has better internet\electricity\phone services than us, a friend of mine in morocco pays 10$/month for a 2mbps unlimited internet connection, that really make me wonder sometimes why was i doomed and born here..
but we have the right to dream..
