  • Apple Bans Adobe CS5 Developed iPhone Apps

Hmmm, I should probably contact the monotouch folks at novell. We have an app on the pipeline to be built using moonotouch.
This is a really nasty act, I just don't understand what they would benefit if they ban it. I will have to read more about the subject because it looks like many people are annoyed from it and the buzz is everywhere.
It all started when Apple accused Adobe of being lazy, because they are taking their time making flash for the iPhone (SO SLOW), so Adobe replies saying they are not lazy. So things got worse, and when Apple found out that it is developing it for android, it got angry, so it banned everything Adobe related, and to make it seem more general, it banned all other compilers. Simple.
Seriously, Apple is being childish with its arrogant behavior. If they do not like Flash or think it doesn't perform well, they have no right to ban Flash developers to develop for the iPhone. I have never seen a worse monopoly than this. That's just disappointing and Apple better change its licensing agreement.
Stop the Madness Steve jobs!!!

I was planning to buy an iphone in a couple of days as there is "used to be" many development solutions for windows. But after what they did, am just cursing them. This is why you should hate APPLE people!!! They are some selfish motherf**kers.

Now i've got to get my hands on a bloody mac. Which may/will not happen.
As far as I am concerned, you are trying to take us loyal and faithful developers back to the Stone Age so that you can be in charge of handing out the rocks. Your new policy will destroy us indie devs, and for that Steve Jobs, you should be ashamed.

I loved this letter... hopefully that lunatic would get the chance to read it rather than spending all of his time worshiping his "almighty" app store.
For everyone ranting about Steve Jobs and saying what he did is evil. I don't see anyone talking about how Adobe let Apple rot in hell in 1996 by deciding to discontinue native versions and hence discrediting Apple from its creative audience (which was most of its market then).

Read: sorry, Adobe, you screwed yourself.
Perhaps it should be seen more as: Apple is screwing with me rather than Adobe. They're disallowing me to do what I want to do. Their inter-corporate inter-shit is way too irrelevant to me. I care about now.
Restricting a platform by development tool is evil. Hands down.
Apple should consider the developers as its partners, not as pawns.

I for one will do all I can do to avoid Apple's products. Windows Phone 7, here we come..
The post didn't make a lot of sense. If someone f**ked up ages ago, it doesn't mean you've got to be an arse just to get back on them. I agree with Kassem, that is just being childish. So what, they used to target just windows before, and now they got their progs on OS X. The iphone is best known for its huge range of apps, which many and i mean many of them are made with middlewares, and i am sure that with the new feature in flash, the app store will even get more popular and crowded with new apps.

They are taking a risk here and they will soon regret it.
I wonder what would happen if Adobe stops releasing their suite for Macs.

There's a huge possibility that in a few years Apple would be out of business... But I do not think that's being considered by Adobe, although no one can stop them from doing so. But unlike Apple, guys at Adobe are mature enough to understand that the consequences of such an action won't just affect Apple, but will most likely have worse consequences on developers using Mac's.

There's no chance that apple would be out of business. Although my statement was a "general wondering", if adobe stops releasing the suite for Macs they'd be more at a loss than Apple.

Then again, who knows :-)

Isn't the Mac mainly used by business and graphic designers/animators? If you cannot install the Adobe products on Mac then what are the alternatives? Corel Draw? Final Cut? What else? I do not think any firm can top Adobe's products, at least I do not know of any...

And one more thing, if Adobe really wants to put Apple out of business without inflicting damage on developers/designers, they could simply do an offer (or whatever you want to call it) where anyone who has a Mac based Adobe product could exchange it (for a small fee or even for free).
Apple doesn't need Flash anymore in the upcoming years. HTML5 is growing. And whatever Apple is doing, they know what they are doing, because not one company in the world would want to lose money.

I didnt know about that. So, does apple think it can take a confrontation with Adobe? Let's say Adobe does the same move again, will the world follow Apple if they put out an alternative to Adobe products, or will all the graphic artists switch to PC??
Or will Apple change to a hardware only company, or provide a compatibility layer for running MS apps on OSX? I heard Photoshop can be run on wine...
Fine, but why now the retaliation? Why after all these years?
