Who told you it's your router not your wireless card ? resetting the router will reset the link but doesn;t mean the problem was with the router.
ive had the freeze problem with several dlinks. twice i was able to resolve the issue by reflashing the device (upgrading the firmware thou it was the same version). at the end all the dlinks kept doing that.
its a problem with all vendors where after a period of usage and heat they start to freeze or behave eradically.

try to reflash your box and keep it in a cool place. if it doesnt help get a new box.
root@main:~# uname -a
Linux main 2.6.24.111 #19082 Wed Aug 19 02:46:36 CEST 2009 mips unknown
root@main:~# uptime
23:14:32 up 72 days, 23:14, load average: 0.09, 0.02, 0.00

My DIR-300. What wrong with it? :-) Why it is not freezing?

good point on flashing the device , it may fix the problem

but the real deal is having a router that can be used 24/24 without turning it off/on when going out i don't feel like doing it everyday , so i would suggest posting everyone's router (life , good , ping times , etc)

i'll be the first one :

router :Cisco linksys

advantages : no antenna , still in a good shape (6 months ago) , ping times while playing 3-4 players (lan) 24 ms- 32ms , it will cover my house (its in my room) about 220 m2 , purchased from bhv

disadvantages : didn't see any :P but it will not cover my balcony
what about yours

Before you go buy another one or try to disassemble the router , give some Linux-based firmware like dd-wrt a try. The Dlink DIR-300 i use for example kept freezing endlessly while using the default firmware. Also keep in mind that an unstable power source could cause such problems and more(poor uptime, packet loss).
Guys, one of my friends have access to SDK of Ralink, Realtek, and others.
It is a MESS. It is pure chaos coding, while chinese coders submitting code and don't know what other is doing. A code is full of "workarounds", improper backports from new versions, proprioetary and obscure stuff.

So if you can install DD-WRT - do it. Even DD-WRT also imperfect, it is much better. Opensource model works much better, and code there much less messed.
Problem fixed,

the key was to disable Upnp and to disable the DNS relay
and that will keep the router from freezing it is something related to memory onboard the router itself.

if someone else needs help in that please let me know :)
thanks for the replies
