We'll see you in the "Any Sodetel DSL Users Out There?" topic then.
Read this post on other thread so I thought it's good to ask since I'm switching to Sodetel by the end of the month...
What do you think about them?
I am with IDM even though my Computer teacher told us that Sodetel is best and i later knew that it is because of their unlimited plans.
I'm a Sodetel user. Transferred after being a Terranet user for quite some time. Their service was getting ridiculously bad all the while maintaining the same high prices. So I switched.

So far so good. The speed is as advertised(I have the 512 option). Even at peak hours and you get to enjoy the double-speed which actually seems to work(when at Terranet, it actually got slower). And they have the free night quota although I haven't tested its limits, but I do download an extra 3-4 GB a month.

I haven't tested the latency on any game yet(I stopped that addiction about a year ago) but on VOIP, it's great.

They do have some downtime every month, but I am cool with that and their support seems friendly enough(more or less).

I think Sodetel is good because they don't oversell as much as the rest of the ISPs.

Thanks for your post.

Anyone else?
I'm using it, so far satisfied with Sodetel. Although I faced this issue I still haven't resolved yet, I dont think it's their fault must be a software bug in my download manager, but it's ridiculous, I scheduled free download manager to download a torrent during the unlimited time but as it stopped at 7 am so did the unlimited time and for some reason the whole download was registered in the limited time. I'm not sure why but I assume it's the free download manager, but it's ridiculous I lost 1.74 GB in that out of my 4. I emailed the support but no reply so far.
As for everything else, I think Sodetel is a good option.
Ok I just checked, my quota was reversed.
Sodetel rocks.
All ISPs are awesome the first month you subscribe with them, if you are a normal user and don't care about latency in online gaming then you wont face any problem, but if you are a gamer who wants the lowest pings possible in Lebanon and also a heavy downloader that schedule his downloads from 11 to 7 then you wont find any ISP that will make you happy.

Wait, what? Yeah I don't play online games... But I am a heavy downloader, yeah it's a shame I can only download the heavy stuff between 11 and 7... But so far it's good, compared to my previous connection it's heaven.
Guys, ALL threads that criticize ISP are about NOT ABLE TO DOWNLOAD MORE or about FUP....I mean come on guys!
I know that they are steeling us but at the same time we are not the angels came from heaven?!
I mean you want to tell me that the 20GB you want to download EVERY month is legal stuff?!

Seriously guys, I only need to know the impression of a FAIR user, I don't care about downloads...etc I just care about casual browsing and GAMING.

So far, I saw the gaming package at my friend's place...and it's awesome!

anyone?
@Xhack ->> Pffffff! no dude 20 Gigs is somehting pretty f*cking average when it comes to internet usage. You dont have to be downloading illegal stuff to download that much.

I bet you are of the people that think that torrents are illegal!!

And finally, theres no relation between the downloads' legal status and the isp's fair usage!!!
Ive downloaded yesterday at work 43GB ( acrobet pro, office suite, red alert 3, nfs shift, C&C Kane warth, crysis, sound forge,cod4 etc..) because my Ogero quota was consumed by win7 and mac osx updates :-)

How can they set a quota to 4-5GBs i can't understand... ofice updates alone are 500+MB( service pack2+ crittcal updates) not to mention the language pack and Apple updates ( 200-300MB/update ).. you see, I have to pay 70$ for ogero to use the internet for updates for a whole month, and that doesnt end.. virus definition, windows defender, security threats updates etc... you need around 30MBs/day that is 1GB/month to stay uptodate !!

IMO everything less than 300MB as quota per day or 10GB/month is ridiculous ..

I have a mobi usb dongle provided by my company 512Kbps package with unlimited download at night but how can I connect it to the desktop which is 5m far from the balcony ? any ideas?

I haven't updated my Windows Vista for over 5 months now, thanks to Ogero's stupid quota limits :)

if you have a hole between the balcony and your room you can connect it using the lan wire but thats probably not the case so your best bet is using mini router or something ...
Internet access is being discusses these days as a human right, and ISP's here are still feeding us internet by a droplet... Come on guys when I was abroad I was able to be up to date with the world around me thanks to the limitless internet. Now I have to think twice before watching a youtube video due to quotas limitation.
So yes the quota limits here are outrageous. And it is not always about pirated downloads, I used to watch a lot of videos online, download a lot of free/open source stuff...
They're keeping in us in the dark here.
eurybaric wroteI bet you are of the people that think that torrents are illegal!!
The torrent technology is legal but the media you are sharing isn't.
For your information, the ISP can report you to the authorities for breaking copyright rules.

LOL! enlighten me please!

I'm NOT saying that I'm ok with the FUP! I do update my softwares and OSs AND play online!
What I'm saying is that....there's a long road we have to take to start learn being legitimate!

As much as I like ThePirateBay(its struggling), I do respect copyrights! and I do have my 2 cents on the Anti-Copyright mission/vision.

Not ISP's, government. ISP's just sell what they have.

I am absolutely sure, when fast internet will come to Leb, Lebanese "heavy users" will face also RIAA and others.
Since Lebanese government cannot argue with such big parties - i am sure few downloaders will go to jail in result.

And that is why Rapidshare and Megaupload were created :P
