23-Why Is ADSL limited when it comes to Traffic? [TOP]
IDM’s Main concern is to provide the fastest most affordable and best performing services.
In order to achieve that when it comes to ADSL service, limiting the amount of traffic is essential let us tell you why:
• ADSL is a shared connection lowering the number of users in order to increase traffic limit per person would inquire us to increase the service prices. Maintaining low fixed usage of large number of users help in keeping their high performance.
• On the other hand increasing our service prices in order to increase traffic is unfair to the majority of the users. We are able to say the former since statistics and surveys showed that only 10% of internet users consume more than 70% of the granted traffic.
Taking into consideration that an average Lebanese internet user consumes around 1.5 GB per month and as IDM our best interest is to protect and best server our customers.
It would be illogical to let the majority of our customers that appreciate a high performing limited connection suffer extra unneeded fees.
As a conclusion the limited traffic policy is a policy that was designed to protect the service and performance for the majority of normal business and home users.
The above were the two possible ways that could increase granted traffic limit and that are in our control. The best solution was to offer four plans in which the customer can chose between and switch among either upgrade or downgrade to finally match a plan that best fulfills his needs preventing unnecessary extra cost or extra traffic usage on the other extreme.
