Hey guys, I just got a brand new DSL connection from Sodetel. Since I already had 2 wireless routers I decided to buy the standard non-wireless DSL modem, and connect it to a wireless router. According to the internet this is possible and seemed rather simple. Sodetel provided me with SpeedTouch 546. The wireless router I'm trying to use is TP-Link WR340G.

I tried to setup according to the tutorial here: http://www.tp-link.com/support/showfaq.asp?id=86

1-Set the DSL modem in bridge mode
2-Make the wireless router connect using pppoe using the username and pass provided by Sodetel

But it did not work.
Is there perhaps a service name that I should use?

Any ideas about this?

Your help is much appreciated.
ok its obvious why it didnt work dah you dont have to use pppoe all you need to do is plug the lan that comes out from the modem and plug it to the router next open your setup
internet setup make it automatic DHCP and thats it XD and dont forget to choose your security pass wep or wap etc..
try the dynamic ip cause i dont see dhcp from your tutorial page gd luck
I am with IDM and it was REALLY easy and doesn't need the extra fees so do it yourself it is dummy to pay extra for it.
Why don't you use your router in bridge mode? That also solve the NAT problem...

Tried it, didn't work. Thanks anyway.

Btw why would I use a WEP key? I could crack that in 15 minutes. Already using WPA ;)

Dude I am doing it myself, and I faced some trouble that's why I'm posting here :)...

I'm not sure what you mean by that, there's not plain "Bridge Mode" on this router.

Thanks all I fixed by by setting the router's IP the same as the Modem's IP, the rest of the setup is the same as the one mentioned in the tutorial link above.

Thanks again.

You should authenticate, you need your pppoe username and pass; to find out how, try here, I've pasted a tutorial http://www.lebgeeks.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=5637&p=2

once you have the username and pass, use static IP, much better 192.168.1.x for the modem and 192.168.2.x for the wireless.. cheers...

Thanks a lot man. For now it's working, if anything goes bad again, I'll try static ip's or check your tutorial.
