The difference in Processing Power between XBOX 360 vs. PS3 – :
1 )The PS3 uses a Cell processor with a PowerPC-based core with seven synergistic processing units while the Xbox comes with a Custom IBM PowerPC CPU with three dual-threaded cores that can handle six total threads at a time.
2)The PS3 can handle 51-billion dot product operations per second and the Xbox can handle 33.6.
The dot product on ps3 is a combination of CELL and RSX power. You should consider that the ps3 has 6 for the developers and it can achieve up to 9 threads for games. So basically the PS3 is a combination of BD, CellBE and RSX.
P.S: i hope you saw all rounds till know(to round 10) and i a not doing this for comparison but just for the info i can get because i have already bought a ps3.

i watched all 10 rounds , and i almost agree with all of them
about the ps3 cell has one processor and 7 seven synergistic processing units with one reserved for the os , but the synergistic processor cannot replace a normal core , you can think of it as a co-processor , while the xbox has three real processor with double thread each similar to the one used on your pc
while the ps3 has the theoretical edge over the xbox's processor ,the xbox processor is easier to code for it - because it is similar to the one of the pc - so for most games the microsoft chosen processor is better.
however if a game studio has enough time and effort -like naughty dog with uncharted 2- , the cell processor can be optimized to overtake the xbox's one ,and can actually help the gpu too, and this happen mostly with Sony's developed game.
So in the end , it depends on the game studio

Publishers are never gonna pay more to get better performance on ps3 but if you want them to be at least be better on it then they should learn from previous mistakes like Platinum Games did with Beyonetta they are gonna make Vanquish first on ps3 then port it to xobx30 which will make their work much easier and with an equal performance.

P.S: i am not giving any of these comparisons as a fanboy but just becasue i find these comparisons fair, i am already a ps3 owner.
