Joke?
Do you know what is keeping the PC platform alive and not totally loosing developer support to just consoles?
Its Valve's Steam! If it werent for them the increasing amount of pc piracy would have totally kept developers and publishers to release their games on the pc platform. With steam around these games have chance to sell (with very good discounts and offers from steam)
Mac gamers vs Windows gamers in Team Fortress 2? Definitely gonna happen :D
I like this idea though :P
i dont feel like replying to you all i can say that your 100000000000000000000% wrong it doesnt matter if its a mac game or pc game the crackers have already cracked all mac games from the first same as windows games plus if your using a pc you have all options from changing every single piece of hardware not to mention its way cheaper than a mac hardware umm what else i can say oh do you remember cod6 when it first released well it was released two days before the official date for steam users to begin downloading it if you know to use torrents it was already uploaded there so steam hehe, its pointless arguing steam protection or not BUT the fact is playing online using steam is the hard one theres work around but its always updated etc
PIRACY will never stop even if its mac or windows making a steam mac version is improving the mac the availability of mac games BUT saying windows will be dead for that reason there's no logic in saying that
you didnt get my point aj, Im not talking about piracy exactly im talking about pc game releases! Developers do not want to release their games for pc anymore because of piracy. Steam keeps the sales(through discounts) going even though theres still piracy of course.
theres opportunity to ppl who can buy games for cheap prices and discounts. That also encourages developers to publish more of their games on steam (because steam helped them sell).
heres an example: you can look in to retail stores outside for games like Dawn of war 2 which is priced for 40$ alone. Now if you remember the black friday discounts or the holiday discounts which steam made, you were able to buy Dawn of war II, Medieval total war 2, Red faction Guerrilla, Torchlight, Mirrors edge, Audio Surf, Defense grid, Osmos, Braid, Portal, The elder scrolls III and the complete sam and max episodes for a total of 80$!
This really ecourages ppl who usually pirate games to legally buy their games and steam is the platform providing this.
taken from the steam website heres the current deal for this week, its called Eidos/Square enix week

Now let me explain more why im against this mac
We all know that the mac platform is much more stable and reliable than the windows platform no ?
okay so lets say triple a games hit mac (using steam) and everyone is happy with the performance that mac has (that if developers decide to give driver and patch support) what will stop windows gamers from going to mac to game better ? Then windows gaming starts to lose a number of users and developers will focus more on mac gaming platform because its gonna sell. (exclusive games for mac ? possible)
I know mac gaming currently exists and theres a number of triple A titles to be found but they are really really behind the windows platform.
If steam gives the opportunity of mac games to be released on the same date as the PC release date (windows) then its trouble for windows gaming and its a new competitor.
heres an example: Bioshock
Microsoft Windows, Xbox 360
NA August 21, 2007
PAL August 24, 2007
PlayStation 3
PAL October 17, 2008
NA October 21, 2008
Mac
NA October 10, 2009 <----------------------
Steam going to mac is not just a phase, its a beginning to a whole new platform that will also hurt the pc (windows) platform, just like the xbox360 and ps3 have been doing so for the past 4 years.
