Hi everyone,

I just recently got a new wireless internet connection fitted in my bedroom, where I also charge my Macbook Pro, but obviously when the electricity gets cut, there goes my internet connection even though the cut last a minute or two. I'm also worried about my Mac, do these cuts affect it in the long term? (if I'm charging it) I guess the solution would be to buy a UPS, right? I have no idea about them, so what kind should I buy, what are their prices, and is it the best way to go?

Thanks in advance :)
don't buy UPS look for APS they will last longer about 2-4 hours but you need car batteries (about 2) it will cost about 400-500$ overall , go to the nearest kaharbji store he knows (for best look in malla area ) ....
if its only for 1-2 minutes ( i guess that's the time until you get switched to generator power) then yes you need a normal ups , with an adapter so it can fit a plug for the wireless router and your charger . they don't cost much and should last for at least 15-20 minutes if only used for the laptops charger and wireless router. getting an adapter from the general computer power socket to the normal power socket should be a bit hard , if you cant find any tell me .

from an "electrical" point of view , its as if you removed the charger then plugged it back in two minutes later , the charger is a power transforms and its purpose is to convert the normal 220V AC into some low voltage DC , so it will not be affected by the cuts , and there is absolutely no harm to the MAC , if there is something to blow it will be the charger not the mac :P
oops if the cut is only 1-2 min use any ups made for pc's but plug small amount of devices into it ...

≈ $110
That's a harm to your pocket...
ill make you one for 15 :P !
now for the price of the mac ? :P id rather loose a charger :)
:) Thanks guys, ok so thankfully the Mac will be okay with all of these cuts, but I do need the UPS for the wireless, my brother in law has one that he has connected his PC and wireless router to, so that should be sufficient, its a Mercury one?! Does that ring a bell? And if I buy a cheap one, is it a bad idea, or is it one of those things that it doesn't matter what brand it is. Thanks
it does not really matter , some are even locally made .
When power is gone, there are capacitors in the charger that dump their charge to smooth the decay in power. So instead of an abrupt drop from a value to 0 in a small time interval, you get an exponential decreasing curve.
