For all lebanese blackberry users...
Websites like GSMarena say that a blackberry phone that has wifi capabilities has to have a Blackberry Internet Service to be able to use wifi... Is this applicable here in lebanon or is it bypass-able ?

i don't think you need BIS, a friend of mine in france used to use it only on wifi and browsing, BBM, ... used to be working fine.

Recently moved to dubai, now using a blackberry.
During my last Lebanon stop, i didnt activate my BIS plan in Beirut, and i was able to connect to any WIFI network and use the blackberry in full (browsing, emails, BBM, etc.).
You don't need BIS to use WIFI
