Aj_BlaZ wrotesamer wroteAj_BlaZ, keep in mind that if ijanawra will probably need a Mini display port to HDMI and not mini DVI. All the new apple laptops come with mini display port and not mini DVI.
Now the problem is that there isn't a direct cable that supports both audio and video (audio is usually not supported), so she will need to do the following:
Mini display port (apple laptop) <---> Mini DVI (or DVI) <----> HDMI (TV)
that's weird first you said no need for mini dvi to hdmi and then you said she needs two cables the other one is mini dvi to hdmi i don't get the idea ???
@ijanawra can you please tell us the model of your mac
Theoretically, she wouldn't need one; but practically she does since,
as far as I know, there isn't a direct cable that supports both audio and video (notice that I explained all that in my original post).
ijanawra, the bottom line is that you need two cables for this to work
(1) Mini display port (apple laptop) <---> Mini DVI (or DVI)
(2) Mini DVI (or DVI) <----> HDMI
Make sure both cables match; i.e., if you chose DVI in (1) match it in (2) by also getting DVI.
(1) looks like this:
(2) looks like that:
