  • HELP! Problem with internet on Mac OS X ... Need ISP Info

Hi everyone,

Hope you're all well, I've been away for a while, adjusting to my new life in Lebanon :)

I'm having problems with my internet on my Mac (OS X), at first I thought it was the crappy internet connection and told myself to get used to it, but then I turned on the Windows XP PC and it was working MUCH faster, internet wise. So, I checked Firefox to eliminate any problems with Safari, and I have the same problem. The only internet related program that is working unfazed is Skype, don't ask me why! So I called Apple, they told me that I have to talk to my ISP and get some information. Now thats where you guys come in, I need a geek to help me out, i have no idea about anything to do with ISPs and IPs. Something worth mentioning is after I arrived here (the Macbook Pro is from the UK) I started getting messages on my Mac saying there is a conflict with the IP address.

I've linked the page that Apple sent me to fill in the details so that I can get back in touch with them to sort the problem out.

Any help is appreciated, thank you

people and mac... :) this os just bugs all the time.
on the mac in my house there is no problem with slow internet. sometime it just won't work (safari, firefox) but everything else works good. A simple restart usually solves the problem.
What you can do, is setup the IP distribution by manual not DHCP on your router, and insert the IP manually on your mac os, this would solve the ip conflict you're having.
Maybe its your router that doesn't like mac :D ;)
Please double check that all the TCP/IP parameters (IP address, router/gateway, subnet mask, DNS servers) are similar on the mac and the windows machines. I assume you can figure out how to do that, but please do not hesitate to ask any further questions. If you want you can post the parameters here.
If the IP address is set manually, make sure that you did not set the same IP address on two different machines.
tell us are you linked to the internet using wifi or lan its important to know....

edit: sorry cause im using crappy camera
try these steps on your own risk :p

1- assuming image 1 shows what devices your using

2- delete every configuration using "-" without quotes

3- re add them by using "+"

4- retry connecting your device with whatever you were trying before
it is command + shift + 3 for the print screen button :)
thx for info but i already know it i am using hacked osx and this feature screen shot isn't working at all ;)
Hi guys, I am using wireless, and I have a screenshot of my network panel, but I don't know how to add it to the post....maybe that will help you understand my problem better if I post the picture..
@ijanawra did you try my steps its a worth a shot cause you have old configurations that you need to reset to install new ones etc...
So do I delete the Airport configuration? Is that safe to do? Will it delete my Airport or just the network I'm connected to? Thanks
ok you can try this so you still have a backup

To do this rename the file:

/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/preferences.plist

to:

/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/preferences.plist.bak

and restart the machine and voila :)
Hi, sorry it took so long for me to reply, I deleted the configuration, but even before I did it, the internet was working fine again...except its not always like that, sometimes its fine, sometimes its not...so I have no idea what the deal is....I hear if thats the case its not possible to be an IP thing?
