Business Informatics (MIS) - Lebanese University Hadath. I've taken a lot of business related courses so far, only 3 introductory courses that actually relate to my major, but I've taught myself everything I know actually, I only go to the uni for the sake of getting a degree. But hopefully starting this semester I'll start learning useful stuff (networking, programming, databases, OS... etc)
True, the program of MIS has some really nasty business courses that I don't like either, but if you think about it, MIS is a good combination of business and computer science especially if you do informal education about some topics in CS that interest you, because after all the Lebanese market is business oriented. IMO in the Lebanese university MIS is too business oriented, 3 years of pure business study is really disgusting. At my uni we only take like 10 business courses and the rest is MIS, CS and electives. The good thing is that our program is divided in a nice way were you can start with the programming courses right from your first year and you don't have to finish all the business courses before starting with the interesting stuff.
Actually I started as MIS and spent 2 years, then shifted to CS one day when I was really fed up of an accounting course (I really hate accounting), and I was doing better than all the CS students in the common CS courses between CS and MIS, then I realized that It would take me at least 2 and a half more years to finish with a CS degree, so I thought I would get back to MIS were I will be able to finish in one more year from now only.
Actually you are right Kassem, I am like you, I just want to finish in order to get a degree and start working. Actually I am not passionate about business stuff, I like MIS courses but LOVE CS ones, I did a mistake because I didn't enter as CS from the beginning but it's okay, MIS is not that bad after I have moved all the way with it I realized I shouldn't throw it away now.
Good luck :)
